Cabbage_Patch wanted no explanation, but Lander has so much potential. He's good, and so is the weather guy, but the rest of the morning show consists of two "dumb blondes" who have absolutely no common sense beyond what purses should be picked and what celebrities are marrying and annuling this weekend. What happened when the female talent(s) added content to the show?

Lander doesn't like bright dames.

Justin a few things to keep in mind:

1. YOU're a man
2. YOU're not their audience
3. To someone who is not the demo it might not sound the same as it does to someone IN the demo.
4. WE're all radio dorks so we're all hyper sensitive to things that the actual listener wouldnt pick up or be aware of, or probably care about.
5. I bet if you're some soccer mom in Chelmsford listening to the banter you think it reminds you of yourself and all of your dopey friends, so they are relatable
6. Away from Lander for a moment: Erin O'malley = A-.........LOL

Funny you mention that. Don't you have (or previously had) a relationship with Miss O'Malley?

I certainly agree, especially on the last point. The show is making it through to the target audience. But if you listen to airchecks of his earlier work on KKBQ AM/FM in Houston and WEGX "Eagle 106" in Philadelphia, you'd see what the show could be with better female talent.

I have relationships with most of the BIG NAME jocks in Boston!,...... but That doesn't affect my belief that she is a first rate talent Trust me there are some jocks I am very close to as people, yet I dont think they're stellar jocks, and it's probably vice versa as well......LOL.

Justin,

I never had the pleasure of hearing Lander on Eagle (which was a great station I thought) but I DO remember him on Z100, different shows man, different demo too, Eagle and Z were both much younger audiences, something to bare in mind, although I do respect your opinion either way.

Nic

Just out of curiosity, will we be hearing you on the radio in Boston anytime soon? I used to enjoy listening to you on FNX/BCN. Would alternative still be the format of choice for you?

Thank you Oldface,

my initial answer to the Boston question would be NO, for a couple of different reasons. I love the alternative format but it has recently been evaporating. Like everyone else Im toying with the idea of "Hot talk" etc, we'll see, Im in no hurry to make any decisions.

Um... not necessarily. I'm female, 31, and can't listen to Mix in the morning anymore. When Lynn left, the dynamic changed. It's stale. It's boring. The jokes are old. I mean, how many times can Lander say, "Yo", Kelly imitate someone, and Wendy make a comment about drinking? I don't think you have to be female or in their demo to see that it's not a great show.

THAT IS NOT WHAT I SAID, I did say that if you're a man you're less prone to relate because you are not the target audience, I did say if you were a soccer mom from Chelmsford you might be more inclined to relate to their banter. YOU a 31 year old radio professional, are clearly not a soccer mom, which is who they're targeting. Did I say it was a great show? no, however I did think that Justin's critique was missing the key element of his not being anywhere near the demo so it's not designed to be entertaining to him. However I also did say that I saw his points and respected his opinion. You dont have to like it or think it's a great show, Im a male in the 25-54 demo and although Loren and Wally are a show that targets the demo that im in, I just dont find it entertaining at all,to me it's like two old guys tlling Vaudeville style jokes,,,, but they've been there what? 25 years? they're obviously doing something right so my opinion doesn't mean that much. However to address your points Amy, you cant say "I cant listen to Mix in the morning anymore" because you've just outlined the show and many of it's elements. Point being; obviously you're listening often enough that you know what they do, and Lynn? she's been gone, what? almost five years now? but you're actually still listening.

That's the point im making.
