So what's going on with the ratings .. did they not come out this moring. What does anybody know about the hispanic market .. there was a fairly strong signal out of Gafney and then the new one from Pageland? Has the Hispanic weighting taken place in the ratings yet>

The usual suspects see/saw, they go up, they go down. WNOW-FM is the leading Spanish station, not huge numbers but better than some.

Hey Craig...that has been in the works for a year. From what I've heard about their engineering staff, it might be easily another year.

WNOW's stick is in eastern Rutherford County, North Carolina. It was just licensed to Gaffney, SC. It has to move (I'd guess) 20 air miles to the east to the Kings Mountain area in western Gaston County. There's a tower farm already at the site they want to move to, I'd say there are some engineering issues and spacing issues on the band that are having to be addressed. I know that WAGI (the former station) had filed an application to move to that site before the sale. I wonder if WNOW is now looking for a different location.

WNOW-FM has a CP to move their transmitter to Crowder Mountain in Gaston County (right next to WBAV) which would give them a city grade signal over all of Mecklenburg County and most of the market, however, the Gaston County Council turned down their rezoning request for the site. Considering the Gaston County Council's attitude toward the hispanic community and the long simmering environmental concerns for the Crowder Mountain site, that outcome should have been anticipated by Davidson. It would seem now Davidson is just sitting pat...

IMHO, I don't think the ratings of NOW-fm have to do anything with the signal. If the Txr was Downtown Charlotte, my guess is that the ratings wouldn't move too much. Product.... Content.... OA pesonalities

;)
