Ratings 12+: 99x beat out by Buzz, Dave, WGST !!!!!!!!

summer trend just posted .... Ratings 12+: 99x beat out by Buzz, Dave, WGST !!!!!!!!

Me thinks Cumulus will lose way more in billing than it would have cost to keep Jimmy Barron on the payroll. Brilliant move, Lew.

Looks like The Buzz can now say they're the most listened to alt rock station in Atlanta. And this pains you it seem.

Jesus, 99X. What happened? They lost. That's what happened. Maybe their new morning show can save them. Doubtful however. Q99 has an interesting sound to it, no?

Looks like maybe Q100 and 99x are going to swap frequencys, do I see a resurrection of POWER 99

Where can one find the ratings now that radio and records doesn't post them anymore?
Thank you for the help, and now back to more about 99X.

I know I am stupid, but I can't find the ratings on the new radioandrecords.com page. Please help an old guy Tibbs.
Thanks

At the top it is the 5th tab over.you might need to re-type in the address. Your computer maybe cache and old address.

It's only a trend but in the 12-plus, Clear Channel didn't have a single station in the top 10. That also happened in a couple of books in 2004 before Viva came along. Cox, in comparison, had all five stations in the top 10.

Leave it to the Cox employee to point that out. Rodney Ho possesses incredible journalistic instincts. He proves it by snubbing the news that a legendary, heritage station is losing to a station with signal problems. Rodney swings and misses but gets to keep his job for another day. And to the poor guy who can't get the ratings allaccess.com also publishes the Arbitrons. Left side of screen, click Arbitron.

Maybe you're right about Rodney being too pro-Cox. But how can you put a positive spin on all time lows for GST and Lite, and 96 Rock in the two's despite the Braves and a massive TV campaign?

You can't put a positive spin on it. I agree. But what was the original topic? 99X falling behind it's 2 direct competitors. Rodney's comments were so out of the blue. He should've started a whole new topic but instead tries to stain a CC station's accomplishment. And I can't believe I just defended CC. Back to Rodney, I guess it's one thing for a radio "outsider" like myself to have bias but he's a journalist. Was it just an attempt to get back in the good graces of 99X after that article he wrote that so offended them Steve Craig went through a whole box of Kleenex dabbing his tears?

Please folks,.....12+ is not a money demo. Also, a trend is just what it says it is,...a trend. Rarely do trends, show the same information as the book when it is released. Finally, the summer book is not one that changes many dollars, most buyers will only use Spring and Fall for most clients. I would imagine that this will change at least 2 more times when the other trends come out.

Beef-- Wow. All I was making was a fairly simple observation. I've covered radio for five years and have tried my best to be fair to every radio company in the market. I know since the AJC is owned by the same company as Cox Radio, I'm in a no-win situation covering Cox stations, good or bad. But I'm no Cox apologist. Ask anybody at Cox Radio Atlanta. And yes, trends are not anything to make conclustions about. I don't run stories about trends for that very reason. And as anybody who reads the radio-info boards long enough knows, 12-plus is simply vanity numbers, that each station has its own demo targets. 12-plus does usually indicate underlying strengths and weaknesses but is to be viewed warily.

Missed my point Mr. Ho: The discussion was about 99X/Buzz/Dave and out of the blue you interject with a comment about how no CC stations were in the Top 10, again, for this trend. Your straying from the subject is a sign of your bias in my opinion Then you followup by saying you don't write about trends but...you did. See your initial post on this thread. I'm absolutely fine with you pointing out how CC is failing but do it by starting a whole new thread. Your parameters are stricter than the avg. schmo (see ME) because 1) You post under your real name (good for you!) and 2) You're a journalist.

Trend or no trend, it is pretty remarkable that 99x is a sub 2 share station 12+. Call that the vanity demo if you want, but believe me, nothing good is happening in any demo 99x cares about when the station is this low. A trend is just as valid as a book statistically, it is three months of data averaged together. Plus, 99x loosing to the Buzz so handily 12+ is also a major event, again, book or trend it doesn't matter. A 14 yr. old heritage station shouldn't be getting pummeled by an relatively new station on an inferior signal. At least Fram doesn't have to change her story, she's been blamming Chris Williams for her programming incompetence for years, she can keep blaming him for this visit behind the woodshed too.

I apologize Beef for not starting a new thread and "straying" from topic. I mean, the subject head was about ratings. Seriously -- it was merely me noticing something and commenting on it, no agenda in mind. And when I say I don't write about trends, I'm talking about the newspaper or my blog, not here. This is just a radio board for folks to mull stuff over isn't it? I just don't see how my observation indicates anything at all beyond something very factual. Clear Channel didn't have a single station in the top 10 in the trend while all of Cox's stations were in the top 10. That's all. Take is as it may. If it were the other way around, I would have made the same observation.

F10, the arbitrends are not weighted and were designed for program directors. Even program directors are warned not to put too much into these and to be careful with extrapolating these numbers because they are not weighted yet. In other words, until it is the book, it has no usable meaning. As you know the numbers are about advertising dollars, and trends mean nothing to advertisers or agencies. BTW, if you havent seen what happens with people meters you will love that, because there are no trends, and you get 12 monthly reports a year and a dercrease in the "Heavy Diary," where the diary keeper puts the calls on the top of the page and draws a line down showing only listening to that station. It is the kind of thing that keeps V103 so dominant in Atlanta, or can make a non player in a demo suddenly a player. See 95.5 the Beats male numbers for the spring. They obviously caught a male heavy diary or two.
