So basically what you are saying is that Channels 10 and 13 averages around 40,000 viewers a piece while Channel 8’s audience is over 20,000? (I don’t have the exact figures but rounding it out I believe I’m close to what previous rating books have shown) If you’re correct then what this means is that all three stations haven’t experienced real growth in viewers. Has anyone ever determined how many viewers R-News pulls in? It’s too soon to determine how FOX-31 is doing since the station re-debuted on November 1st after a two month hiatus. Besides the news featured on FOX is nothing but what viewers would see on Channel 8 at 11pm anyways.
I can’t believe that people are getting most of their local news from radio since there are only two stations in town that have working news departments. As for the daily newspaper, with the exception of some investigative stories, their news is old as soon as it hits the streets, except of course when the D&C updates stories on its website.
So the answer here could be that more people are getting their news from the internet or just not bothering to watch TV news anymore.
Any thoughts on this subject?
