Well for San antonio --

isnt it about time to say goodbye to Z1067 and K-rock and Digital? They have all been down at the bottom just about every since they fliped.

I think Mix 96.1 could add new music, I dont understand why most of these hiphop & top 40 stations dont add anything new, or if they do they dont do it very often. I think that is the problem with radio around here, nothing is really being added new and keeping it fresh and not over play it.

K-Rock dips under 2.0

K-Rock is now at a 1.8. With ratings that low, changes are almost certain. Where's Free Beer and Catfish? They've been either on vacation or off the air for almost 2 weeks.

1.8? Shoot, our rock station (KIOL) is at a 1.1. I would be estatic if KIOL was at a 1.8. It would be the highest rating the station has seen since it came on the air in February 2005. Looking over the 12+ throughout the state, most every rock formatted station lost ratings for this book, including powerhouses like KISS-FM.

Re: K-Rock dips under 2.0

Well the diffrents is that K-rock is a city grade station as of KIOL is a rim-shot, I dont know if that makes a diffrents but it should make some.

KBPA is a rimshot at best and doesn't target the San Antonio market yet they are pulling a 1.3. Just half a point under KSRX.

K-Rock's not working. How long until their billing suffers enough for a flip?

How do they eat and keep the lights on?

K-Rock has to do something; if they want to stick with a rock format, then the either have to commit to Classic Rock and take KZEP head on or they need to fill the Alternative hole in San Antonio; change their moniker to something like "102.7 The X San Antonio's New Rock Alternative". I don't know if an Alternative station would do well in San Antonio though; KISS covers the harder edge of Alternative, so the Alternative opening may not be as wide as it seems.

"Jack" should be an option. When "Bob" makes inroads in San Antonio and doesn't target or cover the entire market, that indicates an opening.

CBS had expressed interest in the Spanish format; do you go to "Preciosa" type format on 102.7?

The 102.7 frequency probably can't go back to Hip/Hop or Top 40 given the multiple positioners and formats they did between 2000 and 2003 in an attempt to combat "The Beat".

It's going to be interesting to see what direction 102.7 goes.

Re: K-Rock dips under 2.0

102.7 should go back to being a Rhythmic/Dance station. Mix 96.1 and diZZy 106-7 can't compete with the beat but Rhythmic/Dance on 102.7 can and has been proven even when 106.7 was heavy on the dance format.

Re: K-Rock dips under 2.0

Me and Itunes + my cd player are getting a long ok these days I kind of doupt that there will ever be a hiphop and dance radio station again, I'm turning towards my cd's now and with my Itunes music collection that keeps growing.

Ever since the original KTFM and 106.7 Jamz went off the air. I've been tuning to my Sirius radio. Nowadays, there's not much to listen to whether it's here in S.A. or in other Texas cities.

Here's great internet station www.ipartyradio.com
It's a mixture of new and old school dance with some booty bass.

That's the point I was trying to make. Thanks. There is a hole that isn't being filled by Magic or Soft Rock. I think that both have shifted to compete with Jammin in the past few months. Jack would be an instant success and a cash cow that could last for a few years at least.

The San Antonio market has always been late and a little backwards in the format shifts. For radio here to take a chance is rare. It seems like it has to be proven somewhere else before we can "try" it in SA. Kinda sad really.

Jack/Jill/Bob/Alice or whatever name it's going to be in 2006 will probably work here in S.A. I would like to see a Rhythmic version of the format.

Maybe 102.7 could try a broad form of Modern AC like the Dave-FM that Infinity has in Atlanta.

From the sounds of things, it seems like Magic 105.3 is essentially more of a Bright AC and artists like Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Natalie Merchant, Simple Plan, Train, and Sarah MacLachlan have been getting little airplay if any. It sounds like, coincidentally, B98.5FM in Atlanta.

99.5 KISS is essentially an Active Rock station, so they would probably stay away from artists such as The Killers, The White Stripes, The Bravery, Cake and Gin Blossoms.

If 102.7 went for an Alternative-leaning Modern AC, they would not only fill a format hole in San Antonio radio (and yes I actually had the pleasure of listening while I was down there this Christmas), but they could proably take a bite out of two Cox stations in one wack.

Just a suggestion.
