Hello everyone.

Spring book came out today in Harrisburg and York and I know we can't be too specific but...any thoughts?

Clear Channel has 3 of top 4, just different order. WNNK, WTPA, and WWKL had best books in recent history. WHP had a weak book, but it has happened in the past, only to see them roar back to #1. Country seems to being doing well in mid-state as Bob and WGTY both post nice gains in their markets. All in all, not too much change. Below the line stations rank about the same.

Spring to Spring, WHP is just down a share and Bob is just up a half share... & River is in that same one share window--so, really, no big deal. Wink is up two and a half shares--they've gotta be pleased... and TPA is probably doing cart-wheels. But with both rockers up, that may be where some of 580's guys were hangin'...

With Bob, Wink & River all up... and 'HP down... women might have been under-sampled (propping-up AQH)--and older guys over-sampled (depressing AQH).

With Cat, WHYL & WI00 all up... and 'HP down... that can mean more books than usual in Cumberland County. Those folks over in Newville still think 580 is a daytimer...

Agreed....big gains for Wink, 'TPA & the X.

BOB...tops as always, but put RED on a competative signal and I'm not so sure they would skate into first so easy.

WARM...dropping despite the "Kelly's Back!" campaign. Will they renew her contract and is she as "witchy" as people say she is? She looked so warm and friendly on the billboard.

MIX....hmmm. Tough call. A little flat despite their "mini" TV campaign. Love the music on that station...why won't it grow on such a powerful stick?

Analyze Mix against the Three M's of AC: mornings, music & marketing.

Gotta have a great morning show. The music has to be right for the market (relative to both what the target audience wants to hear & what the competitive marketplace allows). And, finally, ya gotta market the living $$$ crap out of it (because adults are hard to influence... and by it's nature, AC is not an extreme format that will generate free street buzz). Can't just slap it on and hope the audience finds it on their own--gotta spend tons-o-money.

So how does Mix measure up?

I like that.

The 3 M's....

Mornings-I do like the Morning show most times, it just feels as though the guy (Rick, used to be with "Kelly's Back!" on WARM a few years ago?) is yelling at me a lot. He seems quick witted but the yelling thingy...I don't know. The girl...?

Music-I already mentioned I like the (mix). The Bewitched twinkle drives me a little batty at times.

Marketing-Your right. Lackluster. "Mini" TV campaigns will not cut it. Maybe they have a loooooong slow build devolopment plan for it.

Anyone else?

I like MIX. It's a refreshing AC that has been needed in the 'burg for a long time. Rick & his morning parter (my apologies to the young lady, but I can't remember your name) are enjoyable and a friendly sound in the morning. I agree, though, that they need to market the station more, and bring more jocks on board. Come to think of it...I'd do middays or afternoons...ahem.
;)

I think the most important thing for them to concentrate on is some kind of consistency. How many different jocks have been on that station since they flipped back in '05? Off the top of my head I count at least 12.

My big question is, why the turnover? Firings or resignations? What's going on over there that they haven't had a consistent staff in years? If I remember right, the longest that they've had one steady airstaff was for the first year or so of Coffey's time there.

If this thread is any indication, the only jock that people can identify by name is Rick in the morning. Outside of him and Coffey, can you honestly remember any of the others who have come and gone since they killed Cat Country?

Ummmm....your point Steelrocker is?

If you worked in E-town for any of the three...X, MIX, or RED...you would put Harrisburg. Oh..wait...I get it..your taking a shot at Citadel...ok...yea. Surely you can come up with a dig better than that.

PerpetualLurker: Good points. Outside of Coffey and Rick I can't recall anyone. There was the guy who posted under "NotalentAfternoonguy" or something like that and I'm assuming that was the guy from the Afternoons (brilliant huh?) and his name was Jason or Justin. But as you can see that impression fails me as well.

Rick Sten's Mix and Go Morning Show partner: Diane Grey. She's been there since December.
Doing afternoons: John London who started there in mid May. He's been in this market for 27 1/2 years and yes, he's EXTREMELY happy at Mix!
