Ratings Are Out

Biggest loser is WDRC-FM. Big gainer you can say is WHCN. Only Kiss 95.7 is in the middle of Hot and Power. So I guess this means Power has hurt the ratings that Hot 93.7 used to get. But good news for Hot is that they are still on top of Power. Other then that the ratings are fine. One more WCCC is up some, could be because people want to hear the final days of Howard before he goes to XM. Them maybe WCCC's ratings will drop down some.

He's going to Sirius radio

I bet a lot of ccc's increase was also because of the 30 years of rock they recently did. that was really good to listen to.

whats your opinon?

Right now the station that seems to have the momentum is Power. Not only have they closed the gap with Hot to less than a point 12+, they're no longer the lowest rated Hartford FM station. It would be interesting to see where their listening is coming from. Is their audience primarily black/hispanic or are they getting ears in the lily white burbs too? Is Star & Buckwild the main reason for the station's success or is it Wendy Williams...or even the night show?

Now the question is...when will all the board pundits start predicting that WDRC-FM or WTIC-FM will flip to Spanish.......

Power I think is getting it from Star & Buc Wild. But in the afternoon is when I say Power is dead with listeners as they have no music on then more talk from Wendy instead. But also it could be because of the commericals. Thats if Hot 93.7 hasn't went with less commericals.

Now thats funny, WTIC-FM as a Spanish station. No way. They will stay Hot AC because they are a great sounding station. Maybe DRC-FM could go Spanish.

Hey, I got one for you, either WWYZ or WCCC will go all asian, with JPOP, KPOP & CPOP, yeah, that's the ticket, WCCCPOP.

(Now the question is...how many of the board pundits take me as serious?)

So Buckley, in it's infinite wisdom, has chosen to alienate long-time DRC-FM listeners in a quest for the magical 25-44 group (who couldn't give a damn about classic hits - BTW).

It wasn't so long ago that this was a great oldies station that was a pleasure to listen to while driving between Boston and NY. And, it did reasonably well in the ratings, IIRC. Now, it's crappy and no one is listening.

The needless destruction of the oldies format continues....

On a different note, I wish that I could see the break-outs in the ratings book so as to know how Wendy Williams actually does in Hartford. In my various visits to the area, I have preferred the music and presentation of Power over Hot - yet end up on 93.7 all afternoon. That's because WW is just unlistenable. And, I know that I am not alone as locals with similar musical tastes say the same thing.

So, it would be interesting to see if WW pulls down Power's ratings OR if I'm simply all wet!

By the way, did WYBC get any ratings in Hartford? Not a bad signal in many areas of the market (especially Hartford/Manchester) and it's pretty much alone in the format.
