ratings breakdown?????

Does anyone have the ratings break downs for the dayparts? 18-34? maybe the top five stations or so? Seems like Free is still at the bottom...KYLD is on its way up...KMEL on its way down...

With the Wolf announcing its new morning show, what impact could that make? What about T-Man on KYLD, how did he do?

No matter how you slice it KYLD knocked it out of the park in the winter book.
Perhaps the only pessimistic way of looking at it would be the "borrowing from Peter to pay Paul" theory as they seemed to have taken some of their numbers away from KMEL. That's not their concern however.

Jazzy Jim deserves credit. I recall him being bashed on this site and he seems to be getting the last laugh.

T-Man's morning numbers presently trail the other dayparts but from a veteran programmers assessment are extremely successful. I rarely have seen a show that comes in as an unknown to a major market in such a high profile time slot and doesn't experience any ratings regression. This speaks to the audience's immediate acceptance of the show and bodes extremely well for the potential of major upward growth over the next 12 months.

I would advise KMEL to get back to their roots and get more aggressive with their programming. This however, should be taken with a grain of salt as I am able to hear very little of their Bay Area broadcasts.

Cool post RP. We are big fan's of T-Man. We need to no if you can be more on point with what you meant by KMEL should be more agressive. We like a lot them to. do you mean they should be playing harder cuts or more promotion warfare on the streets or something else or both. we are disagreeing here on what you meant. can you help out some college students who have an intererst in learning the biz?

For those of you anxiously waiting for KDFC to tank in the ratings so Entercom could switch 102.1 to that "real" CHR station you've been wanting - you'll have to wait a little longer.

KDFC's ratings in the Winter 07 "beauty contest" rank it #5 in the Bay Area (3.5), up slightly from the last two ratings periods, but down slightly from last winter. But - I hear you say - no doubt, their ratings in the all-important 25-54 demo are much lower. Probably true, but I think it's safe to say that - for now - dumping a safe heritage format they hold the Bay Area "franchise" on for a slight variation of an already over-used CHR format is not in the cards.

Exhibit A - Entercom getting strong results so far from picking up the supposedly dead Country "franchise." Exhibit B - the embarrassing results CBS is getting from the 99.7 flip from Classic Hits to yet-another-urban-station.

Persons 18-34:
1) KSOL, 2) KYLD, 3) KMEL, 4) KRZZ, 5)KOIT

Men 18-49:
KIFR #20 overall
Carolla #8

If CBS owned KDFC, that's all they'd go by to justify a flip of the format!!!

What if CC pulled a stunner and purchased KDFC? Which station would CC spinoff to get it?

You're right, and it's a great idea. Entercom - I've got a great idea for 102.1...an urban format with new music and a lot of old-school rap and hip-hop hits from 'back in the day' of the early 90s. You can call it DANCiN' 102.1. The slogan can be "Music that makes you feel cool." Your TV commercials can have close-ups of people wiggling their butts. It'll be really popular because they aren't nearly enough stations in the Bay Area playing urban music.

Gee...think Movin' 99.7 needs competition?

So I guess that Movin' still isn't Movin' in the ratings up there?

Why am I not surprised?

SF doesn't REALLY need another rhythmic-leaning radio station does it?

major changes coming at KMEL within 2 weeks...stay tuned...

I agree. Now that KMEL is losing to KYLD...management has every reason and excuse to make changes. I'd say look for KYLD personel to wear more than one hat. KYLD and KMEL. This is what they've been waiting for....
