CHR just isn't what it used to be, and I wonder if this market can still support two of them. I remember back in the day between the two (Bob and Hot) they carried a 10 or 11 share collectively. Those days are long gone.<P ID="signature">______________

That is an accurate format analysis and one I happen to agree with.

But the fact that Bob and Hot are not splitting the CHR share down the middle is due to the Archway weaknesses in programming disciplines, personnel turnover, signal/sound problems, poor recognition of the format landscape in this market, unable to self-diagnose their own problems, recognize their competitors weaknwesses, abandonement of their P1's with a spineless approach to a music focus and finally a line-up of jocks whose fear for their job is reflected in their on-air preparation and performance. The slide is far from over!

TSL is what drives the ratings in this business and they don't have any TSL. And they don't have any TSL because there is nothing compelling to their programming for someone to choose to listen to over and above the competition.

They might as well, and probably will get rid of the overhead and just schedule the music as they do on HANK, the other format of distinction they own. I feel sorry, truly sorry for anyone who works there and who wants a meaningful career in the radio industry.

And while the raggin' on them is front and center, who was the mental midget that chose the new logo...the Red Pyramid or Red Triangle...what in tarnation is that supposed to conjure up in our feeble little p-brains here in ENC.

To me it represents the Archway "brain trust" invested about as much thought and consideration in their "Company Image" as they did with the programming and personnel decisions that have been made as of late.

Why didn't they change their name to either "Red Triangle Radio" or "Red Pyramid Broadcasting" at least there would be a connection?

Let me see...Hi... I'm from Archway Broadcasting and here is my "Red Pyramid" or "Red Triangle" card with my name/phone number on it!

I tell ya'......they are a trip to follow!

Is ex-Archway Pd/OM Jeff Davis still in town? Or did he run away with his tail between his legs?

Many of these same problems plague WERO. How many PDs have they had in the last five years?

CHR is not what it used to be, radio isn't what it used to be. ENC has been hit harder than most markets with the new paradigm of buying and flanking to beat your opponent, instead of out-programming.

The bad part is that the heritage CHR (the one with the station identity the longest - I know 93.3 was a CHR back when 96.3 was 95.9, it's been all rock n roll oldies and dull AC since) is losing. They need to re-invent themselves the way 93.3 did.
