Ratings Fall 2019

I thought it odd that a rep from Nielson came to my door last week and asked if I had a few minutes for a survey. He did have an ID tag that I didn't bother to check closely- I just told him I haven't got time. I'm sure I am out of any demo of interest anyway. I just was surprised, I didn't think they ever did any in person, at home surveying anymore. An older gentleman, not the usual younger survey takers. I don't even know if he was surveying for radio, TV or print.

Nielsen does far more than survey radio. There are consumer habit surveys, too. They do not do print specifically.

And they don't take audience data door to door. They do use personal visits to recruit participants in their panel surveys, like the PPM.

Another panel survey, Homescan, tracks consumer goods purchases and attitudes. This is a research technique that goes back 90 years to P&G's "Pantry Check" method of measuring consumer behaviour.

So it is likely that if the person was from Nielsen, they were recruiting for participation in one of the panel products.

I see Nielsen is re-releasing the Fresno market Fall 2019 book tomorrow. Seems some subscribing station(s) were left out?

One Putt Broadcasting (KJFX 95.7,KFRR 104.1, KJWL 105.5, KWDO 99.3, KFIG 940 AM, KYNO 1430 AM, KFPT 790 AM) hasn't subscribed to Nielsen in over a year.
