Ratings for Eastern Idaho market

Hi there.. First post here in the great state of ID. Trying to find some info on "ratings" in eastern Idaho around the Idaho Falls area. New to the area and honestly just trying to do some homework.

Thanks a bunch..

I was at a meeting attended by folks from a few different Eastern Idaho radio groups recently and -- over a long lunch -- I listened to lengthy discussion on this very topic. Eastern Idaho is not rated by Arbitron (obviously). It seemed to be commonly held that Eastlan has outdated, imprecise survey methods and that one called Solutions (either Solutions Media or Solutions Broadcasting, I forget) has more legit surveys, but they aren't great about marketing consistently to ad agencies. There was lots of muttering about Eastlan granting top ratings to whichever group pays it the most to cozy up, but I took that with a big grain of salt.

Thanks for the replies folks... Arby, I would just like to know the top 5 or so listened to stations in the area as far as country format. Wanna see how things stack up out here.

Thanks a bunch!!

Well, there's only 5 country stations in the area, so that helps sum it up. Eastlan separates IF and Pocatello into break down markets so that may help as well due to coverage issues (ie. KUPI into Pocatello, KZBQ into Idaho Falls & northward...)

I'm guessing:
#1 KID-FM "96.1 the Bull" - hot country presentation since station signed on as "K96" in 90s. Translator in Pocatello to improve signal in deep Portneuf (river) Valley.
#2 KUPI-FM - used to be #1 in Idaho Falls but lost that traction at some point
#3 KTHK-FM "Young Country" image goes over well, booster in Pocatello to fill in coverage issues there. (note: of my relatives in the area, this is their country station) - Marketed, co-owned with other Riverbend Communications stations with studios in Blackfoot (heritage KFTZ Top 40, KLCE A/C)
#4 KZBQ-FM/KOUU-AM - Try as Paul Anderson might, he has offered nothing interesting. The station is ABC Radio's satellite country format except for his self-hosted morning show M-F.
#5 KCHQ-FM - Focusing on the upper valley, this station is owned by Ted Austin, Jr. who sold 94.3 to Sand Hill Media about 8 years ago now. The station has a local morning show and has cycled through a few hosts since starting. Translator in Jackson, Wyo. and an additional one in Rexburg. They used to use Waitt Radio's country service, but appear to be voice tracking other dayparts relatively locally (Dina Diamond is based in the Magic Valley, last I knew)

I'm no Country expert, but I know the ratings look quite different when Bannock County (Pocatello) is evaluated on its own. KUPI is the dominant, heritage station for Idaho Falls and north, but has little presence in Pocatello. KZBQ 93.7 --another heritage station with intense community involvement--has been at the top of most Pocatello/Bannock County surveys for years.
