I was nervous as I went in to the PD's office to check
on my predictions. I have amazed even myself, I am stunned,
shocked and oh so proud my fellow posters. How did I do
in May in predicting the impact of JACK. Be amazed:

1. Prediction: JACK up from K-ROCK, Mid-Level player.
In May: JACK up half point, mid-level player: STUNNING!!!

2. KMPS, KBSG, KJR-FM all down due to JACK.
From April to May: KMPS off over a point (but still strong),
KBSG down about a point, KJR-FM down about a half point. MORE STUNNING!

3. KNDD, KBKS, KPLZ and KLSY all up despite JACK.
In May: KNDD, KBKS, KPLZ all went up from winter, (KLSY had its best
month in May but still not doing too well.) I AM STUNNING MYSELF!!!

4. KOMO will beat KIRO.
In May: KOMO is trouncing KIRO

Hold me!!! How is that for predicting the first month of JACK. Am
I psychic? Am I from the future? No...I AM IKNOWITALL. Hold me,
I predicted the fate of nine stations correctly in the first month
of JACK. (all numbers 12+)

Get ready for the next wave of amazing predictions coming at the end of
summer. Who will sign, who will go and the surprise new country station,
how will it do? Only Iknowitall knows the ratings future!!!

I would've never guessed that would've happened. You must by psychic...

Margin of error easily accounts for this gain, it cannot be ligitimately accepted as a true gain in share. Check your math.

Somehow I doubt that KMPS is being at all hurt by Jack. Try looking to KNBQ and other rimshot signals as a source of that bleed off.

That I WOULD be willing to attribute to Jack, however the numbers don't add up so they're going elsewhere too.

KNDD has pretty much always seen an increase in the summer time, as has kplz I believe, but I could be mistaken on that one.

I had to check the extraps just to see what was real.
Props to IKNOWITALL. The guy hit everyone of his
predictions believe it or not. Now his reasoning may
be completely out of sync (JACK hurting KMPS?) but his
math is correct.

For the record KMPS was off about 1.3 from a very very
big April, KBSG and KJR were both down for the month but
still strong where it counts. KPLZ has never had good
Spring books, so that is kind of surprising. KLSY was
up from a 1.4 to a 1.9 as was JACK. Not knocking anyone
out, but give the guy his due. He predicted nine outcomes
correctly and given the margin of sampling error in a trend
that is pretty damn impressive.

Okay, can he do it again? Maybe with ten stations, but
this time for a whole book or a four book. Come
on IKNOWITALL show us your stuff. This is harmless fun and
the four-book is all that counts anyway.

As for the postings, I don't know what's more amusing, seeing this dude stoke the embers and egos of others, or the borderline psycho responses from Danadee.

My world is empty without your post-trend tirades, Dana. C'mon -- I know you can do it!

Am I missing something?

Granted, I only have access to the 12+ numbers but...

KJR-FM went up a tad
KLSY went down almost half a share
KPLZ went up just an itty bitty bit

What numbers are we talking about here?
Rolling averages?
Dropped months?
Added months?
That time of the month?
LOL.

Just curious if we are comparing apples and mangos.

I believe Mr IKNOWITALL is looking at the
extraps for the month of May only, which as I
said above is correct. JACK was not on in
the April phase, so the first impact would
be May. Keep in mind it is just one trend,
but give the guy credit he hit things right
on the money. Given the freaky nature of
arbitron, that is a miracle in itself.
The rolling number you are talking about
includes March, April and May. I am still
laughing at iknowitall's ego, but give him
props.
