Anyone surprised at the new ratings?!?!? I thought everyone would be all over this .WAYV number one?!?!really?!?! KISS down to Number 3. 98.3 up...JSE surprisingly goes down after a better playlist and morning show put in place...WZXL up?!?!? that crappy rock station ?!?! WOW....WFPG still solid and sounding good always hovering in the 1, 2 , or 3 spot...AC really intrigues me...Equity actually did themselves a favor by getting rid of the "buzz" last summer they did exactly what the wanted put the more marketable AYV in the top spot and flipped with the now KISS I thought the changing of the buzz to kiss was a bonehaed move...Kudos I was so off

In a small market, sample sizes are small and diary placement is everything. I wouldn't read too much into the WAYV win, unless they can keep it up next book as well. I doubt it had anything to do with Kiss debuting. If anything, Kiss should have taken listeners away from WAYV.

WPUR's drop is also puzzling. They lost 2 shares while WKOE only debuted with a 0.7. Did Country listeners in the market just disappear? Maybe they all moved to Ocean County and started listening to WKMK. ;D

JSE's drop is also kind of strange. Usually if one Cape May County station drops, the rest follow suit, but this time it was just JSE. It's a shame because right now they sound much better than in the "Ace" or "Digital 102.7" days. The only thing that's off about them is that the imaging is a little too balls-y. It sounds good but it doesn't quite fit. It's weird hearing "JSE ROCKS" into MGMT. The presentation is Active while the music is Alternative.

that's exactly what I thought..WAYV would lose listeners to KISS..I'm really surprised...

While I agree that WJSE right now sounds better than "The Ace" I have to disagree about them sounding better than "Digital 102.7"......I believe that a few years back (when WDOX was still on the air) 102.7 sounded its best....I miss those days down the shore when I was able to listen to 2 great Alternative stations on FM but at least 102.7 is back to its alternative routes.

Not that I don't think Arbitron sucks and that this book is bogus... but this is why Alternative stations flip format (G-Rock for example)... companies poor money into these stations (like G-Rock putting 106.5 on)... and the ratings come out like this... look... if you like Alt Rock and you wind up with a book... I think you had better give Alt stations the ratings.... this goes for every market in the country... don't think 104.5 will stay around in Philly if it's ratings slip... and while I recognize JSEs signal is not the best in this market... I would say that if you are an alt rock listener and live in this particular market then you should give that station ratings... listen through the static... or you'll have another CHR like Monmouth/Ocean someday...
