The inaccuracies in Arbitron in the last 4 books are ridiculous and have made a mockery of the ratings system that unfortuneatly the industry is held accountable to for much needed revenue.
herculoid said:Arbitron is the most ridiculously flawed ratings system in existence. It's really hard to understand why advertisers in our industry spend their $$$$ based on diaries filled out mostly by young females in minority groups who can't wait to get that $20 handout by Arbitron for filling them out. Everyone knows that the 12+ ratings each book are nothing but crap. Anyone who believes this methodology is a fool and doesn't belong in the industry. Everyone knows, the hard-working, mostly middle-class, worker who pays their taxes, doesn't have time to fill out a diary, and probably never listens to the stations that consistently finish in the top two or three in 12+. There must be a better way to determine who is actually listening to any particular station at any particular time of day. Stations need to stop subscribing to the Arbitron falicy.
