Ratings our out for S.A and Austin

Sounds like people are getting tired of the old school. Jamz has been slipping in the last several months. Jamz peak out at 5.2 in Spring 05. The latest trend shows it at the #10 spot with a 3.8. Don't look for any adjustment from BMP. BMP will ride the format into the ground before they decide to do something, example Digital 104.1.

Don't look now but K-Rock is now competing with our AM stations. K-Rock now sits at #18 with a 2.0. One the strongest FM signals is now the lowest rated FM station. Infinity should of stayed with KTFM.

Congrats to La Kalle now up to 2.6 from 2.1 with no advertisement.

As for Austin..

Wow 101X hits to the bottom, which they could use some improvements there, is AAA format going away in Austin? looks like KGSR takes a bad hit, I would hate to see them go as theres realy no AAA formats left around, KASE&KVET still number 1 in the books and KXBT, KDHT head to head, Wonder if KPEZ could try out a oldies format? I think they might do a better ratings than trying to compete with KLBJ, any thoughts about that? Bob took a bad hit but still up there.

Re: As for Austin..

I always thought that KGSR was pretty much consistant in the rankings. But I guess this time they slipped. KROX has never impressed me much--with their heavy repetition and horrible dj's, they really aren't much above KHFI. If you ask me, I think they should tweak their format to include a good dose of rock similar to KISS or KQRC in KC. I don't listen to country, but since this is hillbilly country, KASE and KVET don't surprise me. KPEZ is ok, but I don't hear a whole lot of variety on that station--not even close to KGSR.

Bob FM is a good station in my opinion. Little repetition and a signal that probably covers more population than any other in the central TX area.

kcyy, y100-cant beleive they been goin down these past two books. can someone explain why? imo that was the summer station of 05, everytime i was in SA i listened ot that station, i loved the fact that they rarely added new music and played the same songs over and over again. even the dj's sounded good, ebven though the station is techneclly sounds vt'ed with their dj's i still love them.

kaja, kj97-i can se why this station is number one, the dj's play a big role in this. especially PD Clayton Allen, he programmed KRYS-FM K99, in Corpus Christi, Texas, proir to KJ, K99 held the number one spot in the whole market with three country radio stations. He took KJ from being a decent rating station to a now even better radio station. He strives to be number one he is one of the best. along with the rest of the staff.

kxxm-mix961-isnt time for this station to flip already, this station sucks, at least their live somewhat in middays, afternoon, AND evenings.

kelz-z1067-still love this station, alreadt two years in the market, i know soon they will beat mix.

That is acually one of the reasons why I quit listening to Y100, they never realy added anything new. If I wanted to listen to "older" country with no new stuff I'd tune over to KKYX, which they arnt bad realy for a classic country station. as far as Z1067 I think Cox just ran that into the ground, something needs to change in that station. I think the beat 98.5 has acually got a little better now, I like Jammin 94.1's programming, they are diffrent from other Rhythmic AC format stations. I realy like 92.5, I hope they stay around, they seem to be a good station.
______________

For the benefit of those of us who don't see the book, can someone post the rankings or some other facts about the ratings that aren't embargoed?

Who's got the top-rated morning/evening drive shows?

How's KTSA doing since it shuffled its lineup in October?

I agree. I rarely ever listen to Z106.7 and from the latest trend many others don't either. Their playlist is very narrow. Their mid-day jock is boring. Their slow with getting new music out. Not saying Mix 96.1 is any better but they do have a little more variety than Z106.7. My guess is that this time next year "El Z" will just be part of 106.7 history.

How soon will Infinity flip or sell 102.7? With 102.7 being at one of their lowest point again. Changes are almost certain. Perhaps, Jack 102.7?

Jammin 94.1 sounded great in the beginning. Now there's too many slow songs. They need to bring more upbeat music.

How clear does bob 1035 make it down there? I see it makes a fairly decent coverage there, I'm about 17 miles from the transmitter, it is of corse a Austin station, but makes it down south as well. I dont know if 102.7 would be a good idea for jack or not, but it might do well.
______________

103.5 does a great job of covering the northside of San Antonio. Downtown SA and south is going to be good sometimes, but other times it may be weaker. Im not sure if 102.7 should switch to a jack type format--may be just a bit to much overlap. WHo knows.

You used to be able to get it with even the worst radio in and around the northside of San Antonio before the 103.7 translator signed on. At least with poor quality radios, the translator at 103.7 gets all over KBPA in some parts of north San Antonio. A good car radio can still pretty much get it everywhere.

Personally, I think Infinity will just sell it. Not much of Infinity's total revenue is coming from San Antonio, or Austin for that matter. I suspect you'll see new owners for both markets at this time next year.

Bob was coming in loud and clear last time I was in downtown San Antonio, which was just a few weeks ago. Didn't start to have issues until I pulled into the parking garage across from the Westin on the Riverwalk, which is understandable.
