Ratings: The Real Story

No big surprises, as usual. The two stations that are really gaining ground are KZOK and KRWM, especially in key demographics. The WOLF did very well beating KMPS soundly in the March phase, but KMPS hung in there. The top male stations in key demos remained KZOK, KISW (BJ did better than most Stern replacements!) KIRO, KMPS and KJR. Female winners wereKRWM, KMPS, KPLZ, KCMS, KMTT. Not much change overall. JACK fellapart as most expected, will be fun to see what MOVIN will do. All in allthe market looked pretty much the same. KUBE owned the younger demographics.

Yes

Correct!I think this a first for AM-880....all their 'cumes' are up there also...

The good news is how well KING FM and KCMS FM did! Non corporate FMs in a VERY corporate market.

KIXI with the most TSL in 18-34 indicates one of two things.1) Seattle's young demos are developing a bit of class and taste.or2) Arbitron's methodology is falling apart faster than we expected. With KIXI a martini (quite dry, thank you) always seems so appropriate. Hope it's true...it'll keep the corporate research guys going for months.

Easy! I vote for "falling apart faster than expected"!But, KIXI is a good station, so it could be taste too!

KIXI

...and AM 880 has that "if it ain't broke, we won't fix it" sound...They've had the same top-of-the-hour ID music bed, jingles and Jim Dai in the morning for YEARS now - where conservative listeners can still find a station on the dial with the 'status quo"...Dan Murphy is sounding better all the time, and MORTON has it down to a tee, even though he's voicetracked weeknightly...Jim French's "Imagination Theatre" is outstanding....need I continue?I hope a Seattle FM station with this exact format starts soon.

As long as 10 people in the demo listen to it, they get the crown. It doesn't mean suddenly tastes are swaying that way; what's the CUME??

KIXI

..esp when they use the 1979 Kool n' The Gang tune, "Ladie's Night", to plugtheir 'Saturday Night Spotlight' feature this week...!heh - I mean, ya gotta give 'em credit for some 'funk' -going into Frank and Dean-o...
