Ratings to Soar with Barnes Dog Story

Now that the Jon Benet Ramsey story has died down, I'd have expected the ratings for TV shows such as Greta Van Susteren, Nancy Grace and Rita Cosby to fall. However, I'm betting the Barnes dog story is going to take their ratings to new heights. It will have America on the edge of its seat!

Look for Stoli to be a guest star on the 'Dog Whisperer', where Ceasar can be heard to say to Barnes( in a heavy spanish accent ):

'Look, he's only doing to your carpet what you've been doing in the diaries for 2 books now... And THEY haven't thrown you away yet!?!'

I'd hate to be Barnes CAT. I'd know I was about 2 weeks from ending up in some Buford Highway buffet steamer

Oh, I get it. You're saying that Barnes would take his cat to Buford Highway because of the high concentration of Asian-Americans and Asian-American restaurants there. Because those people cook and eat cats. Nice racial/ethnic stereotyping.

I can definitely see how you should be the one to take the moral high ground on this, especially after that comment.

I understand completely why your such a huge fan of Barnes. It's must be that clear understanding of 'satire'.

My panties aren't in a bunch, I just think it's funny that you hold people to a standard that you obviously don't apply to yourself, and for a week and a half now, you've been talking about was an bad person Barnes is for his decision regarding his dog, and how you can tell how he treats people based on that decision and then you come back and make a very off-color, insensitive remark like that. And if you were a person of any nororiety, a comment like that would bite you directly in the rear... Ask Andrew Young. But I guess the view from the peanut gallery is pretty good...

There are certain Asian cultures which feature Cats and/or Dogs as part of their diet. (There are certain Asian cultures which don't eat either cats or dogs.) There are certain cultures which eat horses,and certain cultures which don't eat pork and many of the food's which American's actively consume. The poster of the comment was not judging the culture, rather acknowledging it.
I see no problem referencing this, especially for the purpose of satire.

I say we put Deadman/Joeymills and Slider7 in a room and the first one out gets to program Dave FM. Slider7 apparently worships the ground the great Steve Barnes walks on and would probaly rename it Steve FM, All Barnes all the time and JoeyMills wants nothing more than to program Dave FM with O & A and T & R. I believe he already has the ad campaign worked out. The loser gets to sit and watch No Witness for 24 hours straight with Michelle Engel.

I can't believe I am saying this but I am routing for Joey.

I'll let some of the reviews from Amazon do that for me. I especially liked this one:

"I looove this movie. As a professional dominatrix, it's my job to inflict torture and pain on my clients. Beating some mid-level office manager with a whip for two hours is hard work. But now, all I have to do is strap them to a chair in front of screen playing "No Witness." Meanwhile, I go to my office to smoke a cigarette and surf the internet. I have to hand it to that Steve Barnes - his acting has those porky losers screaming louder than I've ever heard."

Now that's pretty funny!

On a side note, according to some of the reviews from 'Rotten Tomatoes' much fun is made of the fact that the female lead is held captive in a ..........Petsmart Dog Crate.

Why doesn everyone have to jump on me? As I've said before, all I've done is defend someone that I know and because I know more about the situation than all of the people throwing him under the bus, and, I enjoy their morning show as well as the station. I have never taken a personal shot at anyone, never made some juvenile comment about anyone on this board about what stations or jocks they like, what the choose to do in their free time, or anything.

It would be fine if people offered criticism or praise in a constructive way around here, but it's not like that at all. It just a bunch of cheap pot shots and personal attacks.

Bottom line, I know Barnes. He's always been a great guy to me. That's all I have to go on. And I choose to defend him and people want to take shots at me when I've never uttered an ill word about anyone here. It's crazy. I also know Axel from 99 very well and I would take the same approach if someone came out firing shots at him, because he is a good guy, too...

And, you guys seem to want to ride the No Witness[/i] thing into the ground, but here's what I don't get. The guy parted ways with 99X and went, with his own dime, to do something that he felt like he wanted to do. Just like any person that has ever written a song, or written a joke, or written a story, or painted a picture, or played a recreational sport. And everybody continually comes back to that when they run out of intelligent things to say. So what if the movie is bad. At least the guy has to stones to go out and try something. Which has a lot more brass than sitting around on a radio message board with a fake name taking cheap shots at people knowing that never in a million years would you ever let anyone know who you really are. Which is why most of the people that work in radio think that most of the people on here are board ops, or night shift guys, or promotional people that are pissed off that someone is on a better show that them. I don't know if that's true, but there sure are a lot of people that love to ride out everyone and everything in the business without ever making one positive comment about anything....

When I was in South Korea I went to the Dog Soup Festival. I couldn't bring myself to try it but, man, people were delighting eating the dog. As far as the Barnes bashing goes I think he gets far too much attention on this board for as little as he does on his "show"(?). I think he's an excellent announcer but there is zero entertainment value to the man. I've never met him so I dont have a personal opinion about him. But I must say he's gotten on the bad side of alot of you. That whole "where there's smoke..." and all.

Thanks RTibbs, the deal is we both believe in quality entertainment. Barnes can't be entertaining - he is missing a jew and a purse designer.
