It's a Citadel 1-2 with WLEV thru the roof and Cat still leading the pack. B104 is getting hammered, ZZO is going up a bit, and Hawk is down a bit. Is it time for the B to get stung ?

Congrats to the WLEV crew. The changes made this past fall coupled with Christmas looks like a home run.

i'd hardly say it's time for the B to get stung... one down book does not break a station... plus this is their first book with a new morning, afternoon, and night show... give the audience time to connect with them and B will be back up.

Ummm, the B didn't do bad still 4th in the market and they did make ALOT of changes...Change is always good so lets see where the next book takes them before you say they got stung

Come on.....there are only 5 real radio stations in the market (with apologies to AEB AM)....4th place isn't going to get the job done. And quite honestly....does CC even want to win anymore? Maybe the folks in the building do but corporate has bigger things on their mind.

B got what it deserved.....fire your 16 year market morning show, put on a couple of kids, and this is what happens. In fact, change every daypart (except 1..although one or two more books like this.....) and this is what happens. Listeners do bond with air talent, especially ones who have been around for awhile.

change is not always good. unless you're changing formats, radio is about consistency. people do get connected to the personalities that they listen to regularly. it becomes part of their daily routine. when you make wholesale staff changes without changing format like B104 and WZZO just did, it certainly is seen as a red flag or a weakness by their regular listeners, like "uh-oh...something's wrong over there!" it either signals to the audience that you're having an identity crisis, money problems (bingo!) or some other internal conflict not usually affiliated with a winning team. and people want to identify with a winner. these changes happened in the Summer book and the Fall book just didn't justify the changes from a ratings standpoint. it smells of money problems over at Clear Channel-Allentown.
