AC/Hot AC: MIX continues to be a powerhouse, #1 English language 25-54. Delilah took a big hit at night, but SUNNY was solid all day long. SMOOTH JAZZ 105.7 had a record high book. After two brutal months, STAR had a very good March.
Country: KWNR (#4) easily beat KCYE (#11). A bright spot for COYOTE was nights where Rob Banks was #1 overall due to a MASSIVE February. The country race could get closer next month when January drops off, it was the best month of the 3 for KWNR and the worst for KCYE. It will be interesting to see the impact of KWNRs new "no hype" approach which started in April.
Rock: It was a good rock book, both KOMP and EXTREME were up 25-54 and 18-34.
Classic Rock: KKLZ had their best book in about two years. They were up over a share and almost tied KXPT. JACK was up slightly from Fall-Winter but they are now the last place (full signal) English language FM. JACK will drop off a fairly decent January so they could sink further next trend.
Rhythmic: Record high book for HOT both 18-34 and 25-54. KLUC was stable 18-34 but has been trending down 25-54. While PARTY is only #15 25-54, it appears their audience mostly came from KLUCs upper end, they didn't impact MIX at all.
Spanish:KISF was #1 as always. The news was that KQRT (TRICOLOR) had a record high book. They doubled their 25-54 share and broke into the top 10. Both gold based stations were down...PRECIOSA was down nearly two shares and RECUERDO is now the last place decent FM signal in Las Vegas. Although the strategy for Univision might be for KRGT to take enough shares away from KWID to keep KISF the undisputed #1 Spanish language station.
News-Talk: Although #18 25-54 is not that great, KXNT is still the top talk station. KDWN is making slow and steady 12+ progress. Michael Savage in PM drive continues to be the top daypart for KDWN. Perhaps adding local talk with Heidi Harris will help KDWN in mornings, a daypart where KXNT currently holds a sizeable advantage.
