RATINGS

Tom Kent doesn't even use the Q105 jingle package. My origional question however is can CBS do a CHR in Tampa without local personalities? Does CBS have CHR types they can VT like CC has Kane, Elvis Duran, Seacrest, etc?

You aren't. People just won't let go.

Oh, and button punching on my way home, apparantly theres no board op during the Tom Kent Radio Network as
a spot for Florida Blood Services was mashed with "Instant Karma"....
I was hearing the same thing the night before last, the entire local stopset was covered with music, obviously the local automation didn't break away from the network. Other than me continuing to listen to see how long this madness would continue, any other listener was probably punching the button! I wonder how they will bill the advertisers: "Yes sir or madam, your spot played at this time, and for no additional charge we played this nice song to go along with it." Who is going to sign that affidavit???

I have to agree with Ferreri about the lack of warmth on the Q. It is hard to put your finger on it, but it is true.

I find the same thing with SJT now. Except for morning live and local talent and a few hours in the afternoon. The music is a little better but the station just doesn't seem local. That was one of the strong points of SJT, they were live and local and tuned in to the community with only overnights being automated.
If you/we and everyone out there wants WSJT to sound "warmer" and "alive", then I guess we should all advertise on the radio station. This way it will generate more money and they can afford to hire more local LIVE personalities. Otherwise, it "ain't" going to happend.

You frequently hear that kind of garbage on WGUL's Salem network breaks.

A few weeks ago, I actually heard this on 'GUL: "..and that's the forecast for WORL..."

Even the once-great WFLA messes up. I hear the traffic theme running longer than normal because they didn't start the traffic or wx report.

I also a couple of weekends ago, during the all-syndicated Sunday afternoon and evening, a very loooooooooong period of silence.
So CC isn't great at housekeeping, backtiming, etc.

I haven't listened to RBQ in a long time. Turned it on and listened for about 10 minutes, and that's all I could take. Where's the excitement, passion, and relevance? Sigh.

A mighty station doesn't ignore severe weather and run only syndicated reruns because it chooses not to have people in the studio,
a mighty station doesn't go for long periods of dead air, as FLA does frequently overnights and on weekends.

A mighty station doesn't kick most of its talent out the door and rely on piped-in programming. Hardly any programming genius or creativity there.

Ummmph, that's a WFLA gut punch Don62. Enough, you win. Please, refresh us again which superior news/talk radio station you are running into the ratings stratosphere absent any hint of corporate ownership.

I would rely on TV news long before radio. I presume no radio station except for WMNF might have anybody reporting anything at night.

The other morning while listening to Glenn Beck, during a break, or coming out of a break, the one-great goodness-gosh-Almighty WFLA was airing a part of Dr. Laura's show.
Great going again. Just have the station run by computer and stupid things like that happen.

Sounds like a real radio station to me.

FM is usually AWOL on news and information. Zipp. Nadda. Nothing on the commercial stations.
I would never rely on FM to provide information, except for public radio stations.

WWBA-820 has local newscasts through the evening, something the once-great WFLA used to have before its bean counter owners decided programming on radio wasn't important anymore.

I normally don't listen to WMNF, but by accident, I discovered that Monday through Friday, WMNF - 88.5 has a locally produced News Hour from 6pm to 7 pm, they do local news, state news and national news; all in all, it's pretty good........ of course if your idea of news is the latest on Britney Spears, American Idol and the latest on Hulk Hogan, you will be disappointed.
