I know it's 12+, but Q105 is above WWRM and WXGL makes the top 10 over QYK for most likely the first time ever. What is happening?

"Only" 12+. Nothing wrong with having more people listen to your station than the others.

All the usual experts are always claiming 12+ doesn't show the most important demo, 25-54. So I read here. So what is WXGL doing differently to get such a bump and is Q105 recovering?

I work second shift so I don't hear the morning show, but maybe the different Q jocks and a (slightly) deeper 70's playlist may contribute to the boost....or the other stations are losing listeners.

I can take some of Mix's music, but they lose me on the Tesh-ishms..and poor Shriner with his 'hope you had a nice day", etc, sounds like hes has so little manhood left, lol. But working in customer service where you have to kiss everyones behind, I understand what they're forcing him to do...

Nice to see that 1010 beat 620 in adults 18-34! I guess DAEs same old staleness is finally wearing on people. Great job by 1040 with yet another 0.0.Be sure to keep the band playing on the titanic Brucie.

AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, NOTHING CHANGED AT 107.3---------THE NEW EAGLE. SO WHY THE RISE? (I guess Q does sound good after all the past complaining.)

Are you sure that 1010 actually beat 620? I don't see how 1010 who hasn't shown up can leapfrog the powerhouse. Do you have proof?

The only numbers that Arbitron releases directly to the public are the 12+ which shows WDAE at 2.4 and 1010 at 1.0 which is nothing more than eye candy. The key demographic for sports is men 18 to 34 and that's historically where WDAE has cleaned up. I could be wrong but I understand that 1010 when was able to beat WDAE in listeners (men and women) 18 to 34.

Unless someone slips a book to the newspapers all you're going to get is hints over the air from the winners of certain demos and echos on message boards like this one (along with certain shows disappearing without explanation).

One thing to keep in mind about these boards is that no one has anything to gain by lying and the truth is known by enough people for the truth to come out, even if you have to read between the lines and do some extrapolating.

Every station has it's target demographics and they live and die by those numbers which eventually get exposed one way or another.

With every post evading the subject, the mystery deepens. ??? Why is the Eagle in the Top 10? Is Jack Bauer involved? Is 107.3 really broadcasting secret government messages to Area 51 about the Bermuda Triangle?

No numbers on here as per website policy, but here is info on the FEB-MAR-APR 2009 rolling trend for Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater as per what I have learned. It's bits and pieces, but I found it to be of interest. When people wonder why 101.5 the Point is still going strong with '80s when that format has died most everywhere else from burnout and other factors, look at the afternoon drive stats at the bottom.

Morning drive Persons 12+
1. Bubba the Love Sponge (WHPT)
2. Dick Ring (WDUV)
3. Jack & Ted (WFLA)
4. MJ (WFLZ)
18. Lex & Terry (WXTB)

Morning drive P18-34
1. Bubba the Love Sponge (WHPT)
2. MJ (WFLZ)
3. Orlando (WLLD)
4. Steve Harvey (WBTP)
8. Lex & Terry (WXTB)

Morning drive P25-54
1. Bubba the Love Sponge (WHPT)
2. MJ (WFLZ)

Note: Bubba had nearly double the P25-54 numbers of MJ.

Afternoon drive P25-54
1. Cowhead (WHPT)
2. 107.3 the Eagle (WXGL)
3. Kane (WFLZ)
4. 101.5 the Point (WPOI)
5. Magic 94.9 (WWRM)

1) The resugence of WHPT shows what strong local personalities can do.

2) Does this mean that the Eagle and the DOVE would be even better with more live shows since that seems to be the strongest times

3) Joe Elliott must be a super jock and no longer just a "college radio type" from earlier posts. Since he is on from 3PM to Midnight, I wonder which part of his show keeps WPOI afloat?

I find it really hard to believe that Cox owns 4 of the top 5 (25-54) afternoons and yes, especially the fact that 101.5 is showing up there. No surprise about 102.5 and 93.3.... But WQYK must have had a horrible trend and I'm also surprised that neither The Beat or Wild shows up in that demo during the afternoons. Trend seems unusually top heavy for Cox and especially for The Eagle and Point.

Playing "Long Train Runnin' " for 84,277th time was just pure magic.

It was a signal to Jack Bauer: board the northbound Amtrak in Miami. (long train running) Terminate the one-armed, one-eyed man. I got the last piece of info from my "24" secret decoder ring after entering 84277.

Agreed. Looking at the 12+ Mon-Sun 6a-mid numbers, WQYK-FM was down considerably from Winter '09, and WXGL beat them 12+ for the first time maybe ever. WQYK-FM must've just had a down April trend, these things happen.

What is the Eagle doing? Maybe it's because Q105 is not playing the same stuff and has lost listeners to the Eagle . Q is now 60's-70's only. The Eagle has two professional jocks in drive times. If they added more people , they might be number one next time. This frequency is bleepin golden.

A few more stats from the FEB-MAR-APR '09 trend:

P25-54 mornings:
8. Albert Kinng & Ñeko WYUU
T16. Lex & Terry WXTB
T16. Mason Dixon WRBQ

WRBQ was #18 in P25-54 afternoons.
