I love when people use 12+ numbers and act as an expert! Sorry, the beauty contest is no longer used by stations or buyers.
Couple of notes:
WHBC can't crow about their numbers, because nextmedia is no longer a subscriber to the Canton book. Only WDJQ/WDPN, WRQK, WHOF, WKDD, WHLO are listed as subscribers.
WHBC-AM was indeed #1 12+, make that 72+! When you look at money demos, they lost their butts again. Over two years, their audience has shrunk by close to 400%. They are getting beat in some dayparts/demos by talkers, WNIR/WHLO. Am drive was fine, Ponders show did okay. Miller and Sam in the pm, were just gawd awful. Looks like more people tuned to 1100 to hear the cavs in the playoffs than 1480. Even WTAM beat WHBC.
WHBC-FM rebounded nicely from the dark "Hunter Era", mornings still off from high middays. Not really sure why you describe Mix as a Hot AC/AC hybird, it's a good sounding hot AC. (for example I would consider WKDD an adult CHR. WHOF Gold based AC. WHBC, WHOF and WKDD don’t share the same currents, a few but not all. There are some distinct differences between all three)
WHOF-FM was flat share wise, but increased cume from fall. That's not something all Christmas stations are able to do. I would hardly call this station cookie cutter. I don't know too many stations playing Ebony Eyes and Faith Hill that work. The voicetracked midday shift was killed this book.
K105 - back up, still far off when they had a Canton presence.
WQMX is still the 2nd choice for country in Stark.
WDJQ - I'm not sure what you are congratulating them on; this is their 2nd down book in a row, which honestly, is puzzling. Persons 18-34 in Am drive, they got beat by syndication, (A show that normally targets older men from Indy) which had to hurt based on their “live and local” branding. AM drive has trended down for three books, down almost 5 shares from a year ago, again puzzling. Elvis gave Kiss their best Canton showing ever in mornings. Perhaps its an identity crisis? Several years of beating Q92 into the listeners, now diluted by adding in heritage call letters, which mean nothing to anybody under 35. The night show with Mo, faired pretty well.
WDPN - Pulls 12+ numbers and that's about it. No signal or marketing for the format, but still higher shares than say WCER, which is located right in the heart of Canton still showing a goose egg. Also nothing for WTIG or WINW or WLIB.
WNPQ – one of their best showings in years.
WRQK - Also now pulling their best numbers in years. AM drive, Middays and PM drive had HUGE gains. Nights were down.
WKDD – Down to flat. I get your point about Barnstable, but when they owned wkdd it was on 96.5, a signal that could be heard everywhere in the Akron metro, You lose WKDD now in Cuyahoga Falls, and Stow, it's very hard to listen too. Don't think this was by design when they moved to 98.1 to become regional, but more of the only way to survive. I wonder if anybody has considered how their new signal will flip their current situation. Great signal in Akron, Okay in Canton? I wonder if listeners in Louisville even know where Munroe falls is?
