As Chuck said, someone has to sign off on the logs and is responsible for the tech operation and that can bite you in the butt if you don't watch it!
 
Sunday Morning on WPTF is dominated by public affairs shows. A live studio operator is on site at WPTF 24/7. No automation at all on WPTF, while some music stations are voicetracked or jockless.

8:00am is Editor's Roundtable. Don Curtis hosts.

News person in the building 5am to nightime. (Although they don't have newscasts during NASCAR or church services except in emergencies.)

True enough about EAS being automated, but what good is an automated announcement about bad weather or an Amber Alert if there is no one to re-read the warning and get a meteorologist on?

somebody's gonna get killed someday because so many stations are empty (not just weekends.)
