Both WABC and WOR saw gains, combined they're drawing more than WNYC-FM. WINS and WCBS predictably saw gains as well.

Do a search for NYPR (WNYC Foundation) annual fiscal report. The operating budgets are multiples of the gross billings of the two bilge pumps you cite. While Rush-fed talk continues it's terminal slide, nationwide, Public Radio is the one bright spot in all of English language radio.

Truthfully, WABC is moving away from political talk. So you're mainly talking about WOR, WMCA, and WNYM.

I worked for several years with a terrific lady who was a double-dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrat and proudly flew the flag on her car's antenna every day of her life, and she was more a real American than you'll ever live to be, you smirking jerk. (She passed on last summer. I miss her...)

Doesn't the government fund Public radio partially? I know those 10 second sponsorhips have turned into longer commercials over the years. Someone from the station goes out and sells the station. Not asks for donations anymore.

They operate by the federal laws that govern what they do and how they do it. So they ask for sponsorships, which are corporate donations, and they ask for personal donations from listeners. And yes there is a small amount of government funding, which is no different from government funding for lots of other non-profits. You apply for it on a competitive basis and it's a grant.
