What if someone flopped to country now? When froggy did it, the signal sucked but ratings were pretty good in MS-(where the signal was good.)
I wouldn't think it'd be too difficult for a country station to come on that would sound better than Kix.
If you look at the market, you have a lot of urban stations that split up a lot of urban listeners. All the contemporary non-urban stations are canceling each other out and no one stands out. They are all going after the same demo in many of the same ways.
That leaves Kix, a station that's just not that good, (but has a great signal and has heritage)very vulnerable. Those of you that can recall, when Froggy was blown out by the wads at Entercom (sorry, personal note there) Kix actually managed to lose some ratings in the first book without froggy. Ha! Their only competition went dark and their ratings went down.
Now, their numbers may be decent, but no one else is going after their audience.
For some stations with good signals and not so good numbers, country might very well be a viable alternative.
It doesn't really matter to me any longer, but what do you think?
