Legendary Boston Advertising, Public Relations and Radio Personality dies at 93. Notice posted at In Memorium and Boston Globe

Ray's AD Week Column was a must read back in the 80's. He was a great friend of Jerry Williams. Ray served as the spokesperson for the Registry of Motor Vehicles in the early 90's. After he was let go by a new Register lets say the Herald got an inside look at the RMV Operations by a unnamed source.

The " Pear Shaped" Ray Barron was a lovable character. I was his Media Director for a while at Barron, Hillman and Melnick. According to Ray, he came up with the tag line that everything at the old Lechmere Sales would end in " ninety nine cents." The original Lechmere Sales in Cambridge was at 99 First Street.
