Ray and I had a long talk about his career when he was in the hospital in Dallas. He can't even remember half the places he has been...
It all started in Roswell, NM when he got out of the service.
Ray was at 1270 KFJZ in Fort Worth, 1200 WOAI in San Antonio, 820 WBAP in Dallas, and 1060 WNOE in New Orleans, and a smaller station in Waco through the early seventies.
Ray had two different stints at KAAY starting in 1977... left to go to KLAZ 98.5... went back and did the "trimulcast" morning show on 1090 KAAY, KLPQ 94.1, and on Riverside Cable in the 1980-1982 range.... He left there to go to KXLR 1150 because they wanted to go head to head with KSSN which had just signed on. (That lasted about thirty days) He went back to KLAZ briefly in '83 before leaving for KOGO 600 in San Diego in 1984ish. There was a very brief stop at KVET in Austin before he came back to Little Rock.
From there it was KARN, over to KZ-95, back to KARN, KSYG 103.7, back to KARN where he finished up. There may have been some others in there, but those were the big ones. Some flamethrower signals, and he manned the fort in their heyday!
I posted an aircheck on one of our pages that isn't linked to anything so that all of his friends could hear Ray and Ram in the day.
