Things have been slow around here the last week or so -- how about a topic, and this has probably been discussed before -- Who replaces Paul Eells when he steps down? Of course none of this discussion will matter since Mr. Eells will be doing the games in 20 years still...but just for something to talk about...who ya got?
 
That's a easy one! Jeff Matthews from B98! I think he's already got the contract...lol

I would predict that Chuck Barrett is positioning himself to take over the Razorback broadcasting throne when Paul decides to retire.

At that time I'll just go to ALL the games. I don't think I could handle listening to Chuck Barrett for three hours...
 
hu? They do now.. Paul Eels calls football and Mike Nail(sp?) calls basketball...

i would be more inclined to think that steve sullivan or ray tucker would be a much better fit...

I would guess that Barrett is it.... Love him or hate him, he is one of the best play-by-play guys in the state. There aren't many people that disagree with the fact that he is one of the best baseball announcers out there. One would think that the Chuck Barrett you hear on Sportsrap and the Chuck Barrett you hear on a broadcast are two different personalities.

I like Jeff Matthews of B98!!! At least get him in hosting the pregame or something!

Arkansas is blessed with a lot of great play-by-play people all over the state. There will be no shortage of possibilities...
 
Good point Mogul -- Chuck from 5p - 8p is not the same you would hear from kickoff until the final horn sounds. Is he doing any football PBP now? I dont think he is...

He did the Red-White scrimmage on KQSM 98.3 last year in Fayetteville... I don't know that he has done another football game in quite a while.
