Let's all remember what has transpired here. Dale Nicholson, KATV GM, e-mailed his wishes to have Scott Inman take over to the Democrat-Gazette. Why? Because he (Dale) could see the steam building behind Chuck Barrett taking over the PBP and wanted to build public support (i.e. pressure on the university and King Frank), to make Inman the choice, thus giving KATV a link to the PBP man once again, something they obviously didn't have last season with Mike Nail. Nicholson knew that Barrett already had the inside track, so he went further, saying, "While we have always worked with the university well, it states in our agreement with the university that KATV shall have the final say as to the play-by-play announcers." King Frank responded by saying he felt that he had the final say. The Houston Nutt haters also want to see Inman get the job, not that Inman is partial to them or anyone else for that matter, but because Barrett has been a long support of Nutt, which makes Nutt-haters fume, and made Wally Halls' column this past week all too predictable. It should be interesting to see how all this plays out because they need to decide by June. What it appears we have here is a power struggle between 2 long-time titans (Dale Nicholson of KATV and Frank Broyles of the U of A.)
