There was a thread about the Audio cutting out on the RF Tuners of RCA Televisions a few weeks back. It is interesting to note that many people had the same problem all around the same time. Someone even mentioned that their TV was indicating that it was tuned to the SAP.
Here is where it gets interesting.
There is an article today in Long Island Newsday on Page A4 basically stating that there is some kind of glitch in CC Subcarrier that causes the Chips in the RCA televisions to overload and inadvertantly automatically switch the TVs over to SAP, without giving the ability to switch back to normal audio. Some viewers just heard a low white noise, while others started hearing programming in Spanish!
Tha article states that the only way to fix it is to "Turn off the Television" for 30 seconds. Being that it is Newsday, I think they meant completely off, as in disconnect from the power, AKA unplug it. Apparently though there are thousands of TV sets affected, and RCA is looking into the problem.
So don't go throwing out those RCA Televisions, at least not just yet anyway.
If you had a problem like this (I did too) it might be a good Idea to call the 1-800 number to report the information about your TV set to RCA, so they can figure out why the sets are responding in this way.

Good luck with your TV sets. For now though I'l keep my cable box plugged into the AV input jack, and avoid the RF input.
