and does someone get paid for writing short headlines and putting them in the RDBS stream? And how often does it update?

great idea. they can also put current traffic and weather conditions and suppliment the EAS alerts. Wouldn't take much to parse an xml file and push it to your RDS encoder...no different than title and artist info.

You mean on their website? _________________________________________________That would be cool_________________________________________________

The RDS (RDBS) is realtime and can be updated at any time.
However scrolling text headlines could be distracting and pose a problem with motorists.
And if you were to hit a weak spot, the RDS would do some goofy things.

RDS/RDS is the subcarrier has text data. Music stations, as WYAY is now, use it for title and artist. Most newer car stereos have RDS/RDBS decoders in them.

Oh, okay. You said "RDBS", not "RDS". I have a state-of-the-art Sangean, and yes I like the display.

That's why scrolling PS messages are not allowed in American and UK vehicles.

What do you mean, My car has scrolling RDS, and many stations use it.

actually, I misspoke. PS messages are allowed, however scrolling Radio Text messages are not displayed in car radios.
