RDP: Lo power window on the way///this is your chance! JBI

Jay,

You might also try the LPFM channel finder tool at http://www.recnet.com. There is a function that allows you to input the street address and also antenna height. It will then calculate the ERP in watts
and show how many possibilities there are, including those that require waivers.

ASCAP, BMI and SESAC all have annual packages for LPFM. I have a page with that information out in the office. The LPFM packages are cheaper than the full power stations pay. I will find that page and provide a link if anyone needs it..can't remember it off the top of my head.

I would appreciate that list. My income is pretty good these days, this might be a fun project. There is at least one channel available here and if I move a little south or a little north I gain a few more channels (but don't cover the city proper). I'd like to plan for it.

May abandon this dream for good, unless God were to perform a miracle and allowed it to happen.

Had such high hopes for this but I'm fixing to move on.

Will continue to share my thoughts about this business on here.

Love to make new friends and say hello too.

I didn't think I would catch interference from 93.1 out of Coosada.  We can get this new upstart but on most days it's a weak signal.  If 93.3 FM is a bad place to locate, then what spot is the best one?  Now trying to actively pursue this.  Trying now to raise the money needed to get my foot into the door and establish a new broadcasting company.  Telling some of my friends I do business with about this dream and seeing if they could assist me. Want to make it to the finish line. Hope I can do it.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Still I love you Mr. Gower.  Don't want to cause your broadcast to be interfered with on purpose or by accident.

just noticed the 107.3 translator interferes a bit with WQLT out of florence here now, but i believe how the rules work, outside of their protected coutours, who cares.

not sure i'd worry too much RDP...

In talks now with Nexus of Mount Vernon Texas. They're trying to assist me, as I raise the money needed to get things going.

The fundraising efforts are on. If you want to help bring a new LPFM CCM radio station to Selma, contact me off site or at [email protected] and let me know. Trying to raise the money needed to get this off the ground. That money will be due within the next two weeks. Going to send it off the Nexus Broadcast in Mt. Vernon Texas, once I get it.

Trying now to raise the money needed to get my foot into the door and establish a new broadcasting company.

Keep in mind, if you are awarded a permit, you have 3 years to build it out.

..and you have friends here that might find a way to come to Selma for a day or two to help you set it up.

Thanks to everyone that's offered me some advice and stern words.

Going to cut corners where I can now and see how far I can go.

Won't use Nexus for my assistance.

They wanted a bit much for their services.

Will go the cheapest and best route possible.

Now for a closure on this post,

For everyone who has offered help and advice to me, thanks for doing it. To the blunt word posters, thanks for them. To everyone who came along and has assisted me in some way, thanks. All I ever wanted to do was bring a new Christian radio station to a hometown that really needed it. I know starting up and then running a radio station is more time consuming than just being a dj only. I now realize that getting things going may be a bit tougher than I thought. As I post this, tears are coming to my eyes. I have a great vision for my hometown and wanted to carry it out. Keep being of the mindset God wants us to have this radio station and me to be involved with it. Unless God tells me to shut down this dream and move on, plan on seeing about becoming a non profit and pursuing the license on my own, with some assistance, from someone that knows what they're doing and won't take me for a money ride. Want to cut corners if I can and see this dream through. To everyone that wants to see me succeed, I'm going to see how far God does take me on this ride. Want to make it to the end if I can. I know that if God allows me to get something going, He'll send me people to teach me how to run everything and keep the facility in tip top shape. I have no doubts about it. I also believe if God wants this to happen, He'll see me through with the money needed to get things going and to become a legal non profit entity.

my thinking is if more than one of us has volunteered to help you start (myself included), we should keep each other in check and not allow anyone to "take you for a ride".

I, myself, and seriously thinking of doing this for my hometown as well. I also have some interests in Selma I need to persue in another matter (but having access to a tower would be very nice)

i say lets do it!

Plan on pursuing it now. No more time to argue with God. Just got through having one with Him. He's now telling me to carry on. I wanted to give up but He offered a stern warning. To give up Dan would be the end of your missionary work and all those blessings I gave you over the past 17 years. I didn't want that to happen. Been Preaching the Gospel through a Writing, Bible and Book Ministry for years now and to see God throw that away would be a bad thing for me. I would be sick big time, if He did that. Still plan on advertising and raising the money needed to make it happen. Not going to give up, till God tells me to. And only at that moment.

Dan <><

P.S. For 17 years now, I've been faithfully Preaching the Gospel message to my hometown and the surrounding area. Thanks to God's awesome blessings, I'm now passing out tracts in Maplesville, Prattville, Montgomery and a dentist office in Birmingham. I don't want to throw away those opened doors because of one disobedient act. It would be a bad day for me, if I was to lose all those blessings God has already sent my way. Anyway, God is also telling me this: Dan I am using you to help revive your dead hometown and bring it back to life. I want you to have this new radio station to assist in My effort. I want this to work out for you. Gotta let go of my fears, worries and doubts and move on. It's time to do it.

B.T.W. Thanks for the assistance Mr. Jay. Will call on you, if I get that far.

Just did.  Their services are far cheaper anyway.  I have a lawyer friend I'll get to help form a non profit.  Will get that done within the next few days.  Raising the money now won't be a hard task.  This fellow and I may be making some real magic happen after all.

I know the gentleman at Christian Community Broadcasters. His rates will increase after July 31. He
not only runs ccbroadcasters, but operates an LPFM in Canton.

Initially I was going to use ccbroadcasters but it looked like they were going to have to farm my second-adjacency waiver material out to Nexus anyway.

Because of the short time frame left before the window, they have all increased their rates. Only difference is, I started working on my application a year ago, before there was a window. That lack of
"rush job" helped me receive a better deal than the rates they are charging now.

Also I found information about setting up an Alabama nonprofit. It requires Articles of Incorporation being filed in the county where you are located, and has a $20 filing fee plus Probate Judge fees ( we don't have the latter in Florida.) I emailed the Secretary of State info to Dan.

Update, Sterling and I just spoke.

It looks like this dream may soon be over for good.

I'm thinking about leaving it behind.

Time for this would be radio dude to move on.

To everyone reading, have a nice day.

May give Sterling the old college try after all.

Wanted to give up and abandon this dream.

It looks like things may still be working out for me after all.

Dan, I've just found these message boards and was wondering if you would be open to a bit of advice on applying for an LPFM from a local engineer that we've used in the past. If you would, PM me and I will hook you up. He's good and knows what he's doing. I've known him since the late 1970s.
