We currently have a Tieline Bridge-IT Model STLB5100 series at our studio location and transmitter location. We have a Inovonics RDS 730 at the transmitter location. We are trying to connect our Digital Jukebox system to send RDS data to the TieLine RS232 port and send RDS data through the Bridge-IT up to our transmitter location.
We cannot get data to pass through the tieline and talk to the RDS. We are using straight through 9 pin cables on both ends.
Also, if we connect the RDS directly to the Digital Jukebox computer, it is not sending RDS data to update the encoder.
We can, however connect to the RDS locally over RS232 and configure the encoder.
They have a support staff these days if you have a support plan. From Master Utilities access the drop down box to select the proper encoder. If it works ion site this isn't their issue. The link (through a tie line) may be your problem. Using a standard Omnia processor at the studio you can feed the rds in there and distribute via composite. You may have to relocate the automation to a place that has direct access to the encoder if you can't find a reliable means to get the data from one place to the other.
If you have a laptop or some other computer with HyperTerminal, you can view the data coming off the RS232 port. You'll have to make sure to set your baud rate, data bit, parity, and flow control correctly. See if you are getting any data from DJB in the first place.
We have a Inovonics RDS 730 and can't get it to read song titles with Digital Jukebox. Digital Jukebox is selling RDS software for around a thousand dollars. Surely we don't have to buy this software from Digital Jukebox just to get it to work with our Inovonics unit. Contacting Digital Jukebox has been impossible. Anyone using the Inovonics RDS with Digital Jukebox that can answer the software question?
For around $200 you could just junk the DJB and install Zara Studio, which easily supports RDS by having a "Now Playing" file. Your RDS encoder just needs to look for that file. Simple & easy.
For that matter, I think the free version of Zara has a "now playing" file as well, but if you are a commercial station and need to print out reports that show when spots ran, the pay version is well worth the very modest price.
The Digital Jukebox works great for us. I would like to hear from anyone that is using Digital Jukebox with the Innovonics RDS 730. Wonder if they have had any problems.
No one using Digital Jukebox with the Inovonics 730 RDS? We've got a lot invested in Jukebox on several stations and we purchased a couple of 730 RDS units. Still no response from Jukebox. I was hoping to hear from a single station that was using the 730 with Jukebox.
