RDS never caught on the same way it did in Europe. 103.1, 106.1, 106.9, and 107.9 all run RDS. 104.9 runs it as well (only thing I see is 1049 JOHN FM).
As I see it, RDS is dead. About half the car radios and 95% of home radios don't have RDS capability. Only reason why all the stations down here probably run it is because the RDS encoder hasn't died yet. HD Radio does the exact same thing and with a digital subchannel that usually sounds superior to analog.
HD radio is another animal. I think by 2009, CC's Savannah cluster will have it. It's not popular yet, but radio companies are behind it. Only reason why a company like CC hasn't installed them in Savannah is the cost of the transmitter and engineering work. Might be easier for a suit to approve that cost in market #70 compared to market #100+
