RE: 102-5 It's Going to be the Party!!!

They should change the name, come up with something a little more....creative

102.5 should be more creative with this daily band format change. "Martini 102.5, All Frank All The Time" or "Bong 102.5, All Led Zeppelin All The Time". The possibilities...

I just got word from another source (beside Bill Buntin) that "The Party" was coming back. My personal opinion: BBBBBLLLLAAAAA! UUUUGGGG!

My Business opinion: Well they did well with "The Party's" format, and if done right, it could give 101.1 some competition. You have to go what makes you the most money and yes, Bud looks at that book.
Well, it seems the rumor of the "True Oldies Channel" was crap, made up by somebody (over 45, my age) that wanted it in the market. Business wise, it would be a terrific format for WAMB. With it's 50 KW signal (not cranked up yet), it would do well on that station, but Bill Barry doesn't see it that way.

(My personal opinion) Folks, it's Bill's Barry station, and I'm sure he's happy with what is on it, so I am not going to be throwing muddy suggestions at him like some of you "youngins" do at station owners on this board, telling us how to run our stations and what format of the day it should be.

OK, Romer, Deltas, Tibbs, Buddy, & Buntin, throw stones at me, but that's just the simple way I see it. You go for what you think is going to make you happy. Pray over it, and do it you way, and no, I don't want a Whopper with Cheese! Bad for the Heart!

I'm not speaking for all those folks you mentioned, just me....but.......Wrong ole wromo....thee who thinks we're all hanging on to your every word. You said it pretty well with "that's just the SIMPLE way I see it." Wonder why you see it the simple way? DUH!!

What am I supossed to go for that's going to make me happy? Nothing I could offer the owners of that station would change anything, although some of the names you mentioned might make a bigger impact with an owner or PD making a decision than would scottwomo of Gallatin because by their real names they are know as professionals in the market. You're not there.

My Business opinion
I'm sure they're hanging on to each word. Wow, why pay a consultant when they can get on the board and see you guarded opinions. Glad you didn't add the word humble.

By the way, the last time I heard 102.5 was yesterday and today when Romer tuned it in. That may have also been the first time I've heard it. But yet you want us to pray over it???? A conversation between radio folks and you over a radio station format isn't something I would normally pray for.
The only thing I understand about your whole writing is the last sentence about the burget. You got it right. The rest makes no sense. Can you rewrite?

Here, Here!!! ;D

I want to give a big fat Amen to what Olebud said.

Preach on, brother!

Ahhh a welcome change for Nashville Top 40. Now let's just hope when the station ends there 5000 songs no repeat, no commercial, no talk weekend...that they won't continuously repeat there new songs every hour.

I am so glad the Party is back. However, If I want to hear Top 40 at work I have to use the Ipod or listen to the River. I just wish that 102.5 woudl up there power now that they have a decent format.

If they up there power then there ratings will show I think. Also if there called the Party take out the slow songs and keep the upbeat songs, and you've got a real Party station.

Enjoying the format of the Party...Way to Go!!!

If this was like the last "Party", then expect upbeat dance favorites like "Brick" by Ben Folds Five because nothing says "Party" than a song about taking your knocked-up girlfriend to the clinic.

LMAO, now that was funny :D
The new Party is sounding pretty good so far, especially the jingles, although they're also playing a few songs most CHRs have long ago disposed of. Britney Spears "Baby One More Time" and Hootie & The Blowfish's "Hold My Hand" are good examples, but you know what? Play those songs at the right time and they sound just fine. If Jack FM stations can play these hits then so can CHRs.
For the most part you can expect WPRT to be focused on current hits, similar to the Hits Now stations, and I'm basing this on Party's new positioners. Some of the songs Party is playing but The River isnt include Daughtry's "What About Now", Paramore's "That's What You Get", and even Gavin Rossdale "Love Remains The Same". Right now though they're playing a lot of recurrents to get the ball rolling with lots of familiar titles.
This is a pure CHR/Pop station, not a Rhythmic one, not an Adult or Rock leaning one, but a station that seems to be eager to play all the hits.
As far as party music goes, they have already played Alice deejay's "Better Off Alone", so they may add September's "Cry For You", a Dance track currently charting on the CHR/Pop charts. They also played Ying Yang Twins "Shake", so I wouldnt be surprised to see them play "Lolli Lolli" by 3-6 Mafia, and TI's new hit titled "Whatever You Like" (which zooms to number one this week on Billboard's Hot 100).

PS would be great if they kept the old AT 40 countdowns from the 80s on Sunday mornings, but at the same time it would also be nice to hear the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, the new Itunes Download Chart, and some Dance mixshows at night on the weekends. Would be even more awesome to hear shows like Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance, Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez Release Yourself, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten with Ferry's Countdown, or Tiesto's Club Life aired (some of these international DJs have already played at clubs in Nashville).

I have to say that they sound good. But in a way they do sound Rhythmic leaning judging from the stuff they are playing. I also hope they embrace the Dance stuff too.

BTW have WRVW started retaliated yet? I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

First song was Nelly featuring Fergie's "Party People"

BTW here's the website: http://www.1025theparty.com/

Here's the Yes.com tracking: http://www.yes.com/#WVNS
Thanks for those links Robert.... Anyway, based on that log it doesnt seem like the station is gonna have the Dance/Urban lean like they used to... Party was very heavy on Dance and Remixes when they first started,,,, Now it looks like they are going after the Adult Friendly 107.5 The River.. If I were programing it I would play mostly Dance-Rhythmic POP, and Rap-Hip Hop,,, and play only the Rock songs that are currently in the top 10.... Why play exactly what The River is playing when The River has a far more superior Metro Signal... Then again, maybe their just testing the waters for now, I hope in the future to see less rock, less gold, and more Rhythmic Hip Hop/Dance stuff....
