Re-Built Tubes

Been having a string of bad luck with rebuilt tubes in the last 12 months. 3 of last 5 from one company have been bad out of the box and 1 of 2 from another. Just wondering if anybody else has been having this issue - or just a string of bad luck? Thnx!

So I'm not alone! In the past 2 months The 1st rebuild had low emmision, the replacement was shorted, so finally had to settle with a Chinese tube that seems to be OK, but don't know how long it will last. The last rebuild ran for 4 years which is typical in this transmitter. The availibility of 4cx7500's seems to be limited as well. I fear the day for tubes in broadcasting is nearing the end.

Personally, I can say nothing but good things about Zonum rebuilds. I have never had a dud or weak tube from him and I'm getting very good life. Mostly I have bought 3cx1500a7, YU148, and 4cx20000d tubes. Very good results from all of them. I switched to Zonum from Econco for the same reasons you described above.

My tube frustration lately has been with the rising cost of the IPA tubes...4xc250b, 3cx400a7, and 3cx800a7. The price has doubled on these in the last few years. I am recommending upgrading to Solid-State IPA on all my CCA and Continental transmitters under contract.
