RE:DAVE FM'S Demise

The last weekend that Dave FM broadcasted I went around to several businesses. These businesses included Restaurants, music stores, Departments stores, high end audio stores, and other business types. I am not joking. In every one of these businesses there was someone working there that shared my sadness of hearing DAVE FM was disappearing and that this metro area of 5.6 million people no longer had this AAA format. You are not going to tell me that this format will not work in Atlanta. However these ratings are done, it is skewed. Are they even checking the audience outside the perimeter? People that listen to this format earn the upper incomes and spend like it is going out of style. I just don't get it.

I replied to your other thread on this:

You may still catch a bit of AAA on WRAS and WREK...

If you were a fan of DaveFM, I am sure you are familiar with the soon to be released, EAVRadio (East Atlanta Village Radio), an AAA format on-line, created/produced by former DAVE-FM PD, Margot...Promises to go beyond what Dave offered (no upper management constraints)

It was to be launched last week, but some legalities still need to be worked out...new date, Christmas week.

They are non commercial so why would they care about competition? Maybe this sounds stupid, but I've been supplimenting my out of market AAA music streaming with 1690am WMLB. Very eclectic but they actually play The Lumineers (really great opening for Dave Matthews last week) and Alabama Shakes. Why doesn't some AM station say hey, we've got nothing to lose and a whole listening audience being underserved and go triple AAA.
