RE KROK:Chris Krok A Year Later

Just some food for thought, Chris Krok's one year anniversary of being on the airwaves of News Talk 750 WSB is February 13, 2007, any one care to share thoughts and opinions about Chris and what he has added to the Atlanta airwaves?

I remember meeting Krok when the city of Duluth had its city festival at the end of summer time of last year. Krok has brought to night time talk in Atlanta. He is very animated and isn't afraid to tell the callers that disagree with him a piece of his mind, something Royal Marshall didn't bring to the table. The various topics from he has talked about thru out his one year tenure goes to show he brings a lot tot he table when it comes to various news stories in the Atlanta Metro at night. Krok you have done a marvelous job of keeping the Atlanta airwaves at night very active keep up the good work

I was under the impression that the reason Krok was brought in was to 'groom' a successor for Boortz.

If that is the case, I would consider Krok a failure.

However, as far as late talk goes, he's listenable. I couldn't see him in any other daypart except pm drive.

Maybe as part of a 'crosstalk' dual-hosted show?

I enjoy listening to Chris Krok and share a lot of his opinions. But when he came here, he was being talked about as a successor to Neal Boortz or possibly Clark Howard. While Krok fits in fine at night, he's not in the league of Neal Boortz in my opinion.

Boortz is one of the top talents in the nation so to judge him against Neal would not be fair at this juncture. Unless Neal is retiring this year they still have the opportunity to continue to groom him for success. I think eventually though Chris will have to fill-in on Boortz show to test his day time skills. The range of callers at night is different than during the day. If he handles the night callers so well it doesn;t mean he can not handle the other callers well. He just has to feed off their energy and opinions.

I love Krok! But would he doe well in any other daypart? I don't think so. He's too much of a loose cannon. He couldn't be Neal Boortz at all. He's perfect for the late night daypart. He's funny, witty, sometimes outrageous, and he's wacky with the sound effects which wouldn't work in place of Boortz. And he will talk about anything and everything. While one show may be serious about something he finds outrageousi n politics, the next will be lighthearted about Sports like he did a few times at remotes (for example Jacksonville in October).

Where exactly was Krok being "talked about" as a "successor to Boortz or Clark" other than on this board? You people who are criticizing him because he's not the same caliber of Neil or Clark are - in typical uninformed radio-info.com user manner - creating a scenario that never existed outside of your own minds.

Umm, how about the AJC? saying Krok was 'being groomed' for Howard or Boortz' job even made the vaunted Rodney Ho's chambertips :"Does he have the potential to eventually replace either Neal Boortz or Clark Howard when that time comes? "

That's like saying ' who said Hillary was going to run?' ' ......NOT HER' ::)

It's no secret that Boortz is getting long in the tooth, and Clark's not gonna live forever.

Really. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock this morning. ;)

Umm, with all due respect to Rodney (because I think he does a decent job), speculation in his blog isn't worth any more than speculation on this board. If you heard it from Krok or someone who actually works at WSB, different story.
Plus, to say that Boortz is getting long in the tooth is insane...his show has never been more successful than it is right now. By the same token, Clark is only 50 and you're already putting nails in his coffin.

New WSB-AM talker

WSB-AM realizes that local talk-show hosts Clark Howard and Neal Boortz are not going to be around forever. So execs are giving 32-year-old Chicago native Chris Krok a chance to develop and potentially take over for one of them down the road.
http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/...hbuzz/entries/2006/02/13/friends_fans_tu.html

Any long time listener of Boortz knows what scenario needs to happen for him to throw in the towel and retire from talk radio. That could be the case in 2 years.

As for Clark, he might just get tired of radio and retire with his gazillions.

But, c'mon man. It's pretty clear to see why he was brought in~ to see how the shoe fits. And, no , I didn't hear this from Chris or the Cox sisters, so take it FWIW ::)

Wooder, you got some crazy man love for Krok ;)

I think somebody missed snack time.

WSB-AM wouldn't bother paying someone to do a local talk show at 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. unless they thought that person had the potential (and I'm saying potential) to take over a daytime slot sometime down the road. This doesn't mean it will happen any more than having a Triple A third baseman who might eventually take over for Chipper Jones. But WSB-AM is giving Chris a chance and that's not a bad thing.

I was moved to make a "generous donation" by Chris' interview with the Gwinnett mother who was attacked/raped and subsequently lost her daughter to DFACS, but have wondered why there's been no follow-up, nor updates to the victim's web site. Then, I was impressed that he broke the story of the disinformation originally provided on the "no-knock" warrant that resulted in the death of the elderly lady. However, as a rule, Chris Krok strikes me as juvenile, excitable, unprofessional (cite his on-air discussion of some marital disharmony after he allowed his wife to go on the air), and not particularly entertaining. Boortz indicates his contract is up in 2008, presumably after the election, and that'll be way too soon to serve the Krok whine.

I just wanted to thank you all for the feedback and listening to KROKTALK with Chris Krok on News Talk 750 WSB. We certainly hope to be a part of your listening habits for a very long time.

Warmest Regards,

Rick diLorenzo
