reaching out in the wake of Hurrican Katrina

I'd just like to hear some stories of good things in light of how much evil is dominating the headlines. We (Salem) have been fund-raising and I'm blessed to see how Pittsburgh and our whole coverage area is responding. What other companies are reaching out?
______________

Salem Milwaukee here, we've got spots running with an ask for Feed the Children running on both stations, and I've got a long-form program that will be running on the Word twice this weekend. I don't know what else is in the works, but I know all of us are praying for the folks down on the Gulf Coast, and doing what we can.

Also, there are posts going on the Louisiana and Mississippi boards here on RI, from folks around the country sending thoughts, prayers, well wishes, etc. Check out those boards if you'd like to join in.

As far as other companies joining in, I believe Wal-Mart/Sam's Club have teamed up with The Salvation Army to collect funds for the hurricane relief effort. According to their Website they are not accepting gifts in kind at this time, but they are seeking volunteers in a variety of areas.
______________

We're nearing $100,000 raised for "Feed the Children" and I am so blessed to see the outpouring across ethnic and political lines!
______________

I don't know what we've hit locally but I'd be interested to find out. I don't imagine we'll have any numbers until we get back from the long weekend.
______________

i live in louisiana. thanks guys for the prayers. i dont need anything. i only had minor damage thankfully. in one of the above posts i saw something about wal mart. well i guess i can tell you now i work for wal mart. its where ive been since i left radio in 1998. they paid me for a full 40 hour week last week. plus 24 hours!! they gave all the employees 24 extra hours! plus they are helping any employee who needs help. they gave emergency money out and relocated all of the affected associates to wal marts wherever they are right now. plus they are diverting trucks of water, food and other supplies to whereever they are needed. anyway thanks guys!
