Read about today's weather, tomorrow

I love the new promo on WBEN that says something along the lines of, you can read about today's weather tomorrow in The Buffalo News.

Listeners (users) have three choices:
They can hear what's happening, when it happens on WBEN.
They can hear what's not happening (fake news) on WBFO. The 10 seconds I was on was climate change and election hacking.
They can read what happened, after it happens, in the daily rag.

Bauerle and Bellavia on 2:30-7
Tom Puckett 7-???

The Einsteins at WBEN and Dandy apparently aren't aware that
The Buffalo News has a website for current events.
Of course, people who listen to WBEN probably haven't heard of
the internet...

Because WBFO reflects a perspective you don't agree with, it is automatically fake?

That's the attitude that fostered McCarthyism.

Yes, that's one heady promo. If you're 73, maybe. Smart phones access instantaneous detailed weather and radar from numerous reliable sources: Weather.com, accuweather, WGRZ, WIVB and WKBW.

Clods like Dan live in the "Alternate Reality".

Talking Heads famously sang
FACTS JUST TWIST THE TRUTH AROUND
(CROSSEYED & PAINLESS)

A lot of the folks here just don't like to accept the fact that WBEN has so many more listeners than some of the dying stations that they enjoy. I'm sure the smart phone will tell you that someone just drove into a pole and the traffic signal is out on the corner of one of the three ways you could get to where you're going.

Yes, it will. It's called Waze and it is crowdsourced data and far more up to date than occasional radio reports.

Radio traffic reports in most markets are obsolete.

Each time I tuned in (twice), I waited about 10 seconds for some real news of current events.

NPR must be fostering McCarthyism: http://www.npr.org/tags/502124007/fake-news

Then please do give us an example of WBFO "fake news".

My favorite "fake news" source of all time was Time Magazine's Latin American reporting in the 60's and 70's. Any resemblance with what actually happened in the countries I worked in was pure and rare coincidence. But the "fakeness" had to do with the limited and biased perspective of the reporter who was attempting to describe what he (never "she") saw in a country whose culture he did not know or understand.

It think that is your problem with WBFO: you neither understand nor know about the culture of the folks who broadcast on that station.

You'll hear more "fake news" listening to Bauerle than you will on WBFO. Unless, of course, you think that his conspiracy theories are real - in which case you really are living in an alternate reality.

So does everyone else. It's just easier to listen to WBEN than go to the rag's website when stuck in a car for 2 hours.

If you want in depth info on a story, you won't go to WBEN. They only provide very short versions. The Buffalo News site is a destination news source. WBEN on air...and even on their site, offer only superficial depth.

This whole dumb WBEN vs. Buffalo News thing 'BEN fosters is just masturbatory inside baseball.

NOBODY is going to just stop reading the BN to just listen to WBEN.

Except of course the informationally challenged trump voters.

Bauerle routinely quotes those alt-right sites that have tons of demonstrably false info.

Exactly, David. As are school closings in most markets. BTW, Dandy boy, you just got spanked by the facts.
