"Real Country" No Longer Airing in Hudson Valley

I did listened to the new format this past Tuesday and it was great! I do like WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5”, and it is way better than WGNY-FM “Fox Oldies”, and it has much better mix of oldies and soft AC with songs that you don’t hear on any other station.

Remember what happened many years ago when WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” isn’t doing well, because of play too many classic rock songs mixing with oldies like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Jethro Tull, and others? But Pamal did the right thing, so WGHQ made a smart decision to flip to a soft AC/oldies format where they are going to competing with “Fox Oldies” which is has been on 98.9 for 10 years since it came on the air since late February.

The problem with “Real Country” during the last decade that it was a waste of space for a country format that didn’t hold a candle to other country rivals, WRWD and WKXP/WZAD’s then “The Wolf” where it moved to 97.7 last year. I guess “Real County” did struggled in the last ten or so years was a complete disaster. So Pamal did the right thing to changed the format to oldies/soft AC format on 920 and 92.5 which is now “Magic 92.5” which is an excellent station while 1260, 1420 AM and 96.5 FM flipped to a classic hits format where WBPM at 92.9 is simulcasting on 96.5 where they are going to compete with WALL’s “Wall Radio” and WCBS-FM which is near the northern end of Westchester County where the signal is reached when it gets into Putnam County.

Now WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5” is here, and I am going to listen to it since I’m a new listener. And for those of you listeners of WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” for the last 10 years will go over to the new “Magic 92.5” and it will get a lot of audience. I hope this new format will work there. Except for only one problem, we need DJ’s. That would be a idea. WGHQ needs DJ’s for the new format, and we should bring some people from WHUD or something to bring in some listeners. We shall wait and see.

BTW, I got an aircheck from this past Tuesday which was the day after the station flipped is two hours of music on WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5” with no DJ’s just completely automated, and like I said, we needs DJ’s. So, if you have not listened to the new station on 920/92.5, take a good listen. Enjoy while you can. If you enjoyed two hours of music, please let me know.

And one more thing, I removed all of the commercials during my recording to get a better listening experience.

While the ads are gone, the songs on this aircheck are played in full. I thought that was a no-no on the internet. Is MixCloud a safe haven for that?
