Real Radio 104.1's Real Music Weekends returned

It appears that WTKS has dropped the I-heart Premier fossil rock format and returned to playing alternative music of the past and present like they used to do. Unless I missed it so far it seems to be done in house with just segues and sweepers with no DJ's so I guess they're not running any Premier alternative formats. Looks like week nights will be the same, however there's a new talk show on at night and the music is only running from 12:00AM - 5:00AM. I've checked out the last songs played on their website and (well I hope this is wrong) they're showing the songs being played at incorrect times along with songs that (IMHO) have no business being played on an alternative station. Now let's see if Sunday night vinyl returns as well.

They used to do a great job with it, both the DJ's and the music mix.

So far it sounds good...decent variety, but pretty safe song-wise. Pretty similar to the automated format iHeart used to run on a translator in Tampa Bay (Alt 100.3), though it seems to go deeper, and perhaps back a bit further (The Police showed up on the recently played list, for instance).

Mostly standard alt-rock fare..my brief sampling included:

Modest Mouse-Float On
Muse- Supermassive Black Hole
Fitz & The Tantrums- Roll Up
Andrew McMahon & The Wilderness- Cecilia And The Satellite
Black Keys- Lonely Boy
R.E.M.- Losing My Religion
Green Day- Still Breathing
Mumford & Sons-The Cave
AWOLNation- Burn It Down
Collective Soul-Shine
Paramore-Misery Business
The Head And The Heart- All We Ever Knew
Vance Joy- Fire And The Flood
311- All Mixed Up

I suspect it will remain automated, but at least (unlike with Classic Rock), they are offering something currently unavailable elsewhere in the market (save for WOCL HD2).

Man I'm loving the music on 104.1 I listen to it much more now than before. I have heard music on there that has not been played in years over here. Good stuff.
