Is the public generally unaware of when stations remove parts of songs, or speed the songs up? It's not like you can really fit too many extra songs in per hour or shift even when all short versions are played. IMHO, only a small handful of songs really benefit from some speeding up (case in point Hall and Oates' "You Make My Dreams Come True"), but just a little... not the flagrant hack jobs you frequently hear today that are noticeably sped up.
My least favorite three at this moment in no particular order:
- AC radio's hacking the Eagles' "Best of My Love" (really obvious on the last choruses);
- Killing guitar parts from Boston's "More Than a Feeling";
- BLI's speeding up that Gwen Stefani (or is ot No Doubt) song almost beyond recognition.
Do average listeners simply not notice this, or does it only bother me because I'm a radio geek, music fan, & frustrated musician?
