VERITAS DE VOCE

Looking at Jay's note regarding "Gene and Julie", it make me wonder what the hell has happened to this industry -- braindead GMs and PDs, and even lesser inventive consultants (defined loosely as "retired simpletons that lost their day job so they embellish their paultry resume and provide old school, half-baked nuggets of wisdom")?

>Viewers Voice on KVIL.
>The "Help Desk" on Tony and Crappy (sorry for forgetting the source of that moniker. Laffer?)
>Anything heard on Kidd Kraddick's milquetoast du jour.
>Prank calls on any station

And I could go on, but why? Whatever happened with good, interactive radio where a host had you in the palm of his or her hand? Maybe it's just a senior moment and this is way of the future. I don't know, maybe you do. What a brave new world.

Simple answer: Consolidation.

Problem is, now, morning drive is just being BASIC! No thought, no pre-show meeting and barely any listener interaction. It's just crap these days.

Morning radio is not "THE basics".Its more assembly line blandness. Innovation, creativity are removed and deported to jhe dictionary.
