Really good ACs - WBOW 102.7 & WSHW 99.7

Indiana may have been a boring state but those 2 radio stations have a very good AC playlist. It is too bad they don't stream. Has WBOW ever streamed online, like before all those royalty costs set in back in the early days? Also who is the PD of those stations? I know I want to go to IN again and see Indy & those Pacers.

WBOW did stream online when they were Hot-AC formatted as B-102.7. I suspect the reason they don't stream now is because of their agreement to carry Dial-Global's AC 24/7 programming.

Those two stations are nothing special,, WBOW is a Bird Feeder and Shine 99<<<VERNS PROJECT is all over the road,, they call it Indiana's Light Rock, but they play harder louder rock songs and alot of rhythmic product,, and then into 70s music, its all over the road,, The indy stations are much better.. Try B-105.7 in Indy,, they stream and they arent too bad for an AC.

I worked for Vern for about a year. It was the longest decade of my life. When I was there it was Century 21 reel-to-reel automation, spiced with farm reports, Vern's editorials, and crap.

So how did you like Workin for your buddy vern.. To put it in Board Friendly terms,, i hear vern is not a nice person..MILDLY.

I can tell you stories. There should be a Vern survivors club. Guy never slept I can tell you that much. I think his son Russ pretty much runs it now.

Yes wbow use to stream but they pulled the plug to cut costs a year or two ago. Someone told me former morning man adam is still helping with the music. On air staff does a fair job but your right, dial global would do much better, but remember who were talking about.

Werent they dial global years ago,, I checked it out as I get it pretty well in the car in Morgan County and even west Indy.. I love the Dial Global hot ac that 1630 KCJJ in Iowa uses at night,, and I like the Hits Now dial global carrier. It was a hot mess of CHR, and hot AC about 2 yrs ago,, I think at the time they had a younger kid programing it.

Westwood One's 24 hour formats and Jones Radio Networks merged to create Dial Global about 3 years ago. (More or less ;) )

Shine 99 is a sleeping giant with an all over playlist. Even though they have a city-grade signal in Lafayette AND are Lafayette's only AC by default, they've been holding steady in the ratings for years at around a 1 12+. This is both before and after WGLM's demise.

WBOW-FM is with AC Pure, which is a Local 24/7 format brand from Dial Global. The format itself is great, BUT in order to use it to its maximum potential, a lot of network correspondence is necessary. If the PD/OM chooses to be lazy about this, the Omaha jocks will either fumble around outdated promos and liners or just supply you with a generic backcell/frontcell. Its not your run-of-the-mill 'set it and forget it' satellite format since they really do talk about your market, station happenings, etc.

button pusher and radio lover sound bitter, ANYBODY THAT EVER HEARD A JONATHAN STEELE SHOW KNOWS THAT WRN is for the birds! Must be easy to hide behind your fake name and bash others, I've been in a situation like what BOW is going through, it's not fun for anyone. Would be nice to see other "radio people" be supportive of those in the struggle. However, generally those that have so much to say about radio, have been canned and are still wishing they were behind the mic. Grow up!

I never mentioned Johnathan Steele or WRN. ??? who said anything about that. I just scanned the other posts and don't get your comment.

I am sure that those that compete are more than happy to have crossroads sounding like they do. They have done it too themselves. I haven't seen anyone holding a gun to their head saying "you must suck!" Nothing personal against the one or two people left who work there. I support those who struggle against mass stupidity. Management is seriously stupid and it is only a matter of time before 102.7(formerly WPFR), and 92.7 (formerly WBDJ at 97.7 ) repeat history ( both went bankrupt and went dark in the past) and go dark again and wait for a white knight to ride to the rescue. The problem is that with the economy like it is and with Emmis and Midwest taking every available dollar out of the market, the "white knight" is going to have to have some stupid money to play with.

As a side note.... if former employees were going to criticize that place on this board, they would blow it up because there are so many of them, and some of those worked for a while for free just trying to keep that sinking ship afloat.

I am not bitter, no reason to be, just feeling very sad that there is such unrealized potential. Any real radio person could spend two minutes looking at the mess at 13th and Ohio and wish for something better. :'( Just a sign of the times I guess. You either have "corporate" radio or small town radio, doesn't seem to be a nice middle ground anywhere.

Right on button pusher! Bitter?? No way! I had a good friend who worked there and I use to hear the stories, and their are many and too numberous to mention. Bitter, you can explaine that later fmam65 when your paycheck from 13th and Ohio bounces someday.

careful guys your gonna get this post removed to take it outside...
