Really - No Commnets on new CBS Mkt Mgr

Don't understand why there is no real postings of news or any other intrests in Cleveland radio on the Cleveland Radio-Info page!
It is pretty sad when Cleveland.com has more posts on the new market mgr of cbs ??? Cleveland. I want a discussion on what you think he is going to do....I hear cuts are on the way - but where?
Is Skippy in trouble?
Will the morning show on QAL survive?
What will happen with 92.3?

Lets Discuss!

I think when Cleveland radio becomes more independently owned by a number of different owners, then there may be alot more things to talk about in Cleveland radio, if or when this should ever be the way radio used to be here, you will have alot more announcers, dj's, engineer's, owners, and more competition in the area...therefore creating more subjects to talk about-that's just my opinion...

Skippy's fine. QAL mornings are fine. 92.3 will live a long life.

There is plenty to talk about in cleveland radio. I'm pretty bummed that nobody talks about things like Alan Cox and the fact that one of the "worst" stations in cleveland has become one of the dominating ones. I guess when you're living in the past, things like this are overlooked.

Who's this 'Alan Cox' guy? First I heard of him... ;D (Seriously, after Maxwell was dismissed, I lost any reason to listen to WMMS, period. So he can plummet to dead last as far as I'm concerned.)

Seriously, 92.3 is operated in a broom closet with no personalities so that CBS doesn't further dismiss any other talent at Q104, WDOK or NCX. Skippy has *some* programming oversight at 92.3 and 98.5, even thought both (Dominic Nardella and Bill Louis, respectively) still have PDs. Q104 and WDOK still run fairly well, 92.3 is... blah, and NCX hasn't changed their playlist at all since 1993.

Other than that, the CBS Cleveland cluster is just boring as hell. 92.3 could flip to a different all-automated format (like CHR as an "AMP 92-3"), but not like anyone will care about it. That's what happens when CBS can't sell the cluster due to the recession and is stuck with it for years to come.

Oh, and the pitiful Cleveland.com "Hate Hammer" forum is as worthless as wet one-ply toilet paper.

92.3 ain't flipping. Did you see the PPM numbers? Kicked ass in the 18-34 cells. An 11 share in mid-days with no jocks? So yes, no salaries, but you're also getting great numbers. Just sitting there making money for CBS and I'm sure they're ok with that.
Now moving that format to 98.5 and flipping 92.3 to CHR AMP Radio? That would be interesting but I doubt it would happen.

It'll be interesting to see the holiday and January book. I bet WMMS won't do nearly as well.

Hell, 92.3's been an afterthought since the Jammin' 92 days. Shame of it is that Dominic Nardella has been there the whole time. It really doesn't matter what they plug in there now, it will make money with no personalities. And WMMS should plummet in afternoons, especially after telling Maxwell's audience the equivalent of, "F--- You" with Shawn Street and Mike Toomey.

Nate-

Why aren't you casting the blame on MWL? The dude clearly overestimated his worth, and walked when he didn't get what he wanted. Don't cha think the big FU honestly came from MWL and not MMS?
In 2009 (at the time) and now 2010, you can't demand half a million dollars for PM drive (that's the rumor) just because you think that's what the AM show is pulling down.

Could there be a possibility that amongst the highly compensated talent at Clear Channel, their egos were getting out of control, and manifested itself in a burgeoning competition of one-upmanship where each one wanted/demanded to be paid the same or more then the others? Thus management needed to stop this somehow, sometime.

Maxwell did a total FU for over a whole year, and quite frankly, I can't blame him. Still, his numbers were worth it, and it made for excellent radio. No way that this Alan Sherman guy will ever be able to match them. Besides, I wouldn't trust anything Shane French said on the air, either... they clearly didn't get along at all for the year and a half they co-existed together.

I say this under the premise that I think Shane is a good talent, but he surrounds himself with pathetic non-talent that renders the show in the "awful" category (right alongside Rizzo on WKNR). I don't think he really earns his salary with the effort given, and his support staff doesn't deserve it, nor his insulation from firings or budget cuts.
