RealTalk 1160 GM is 'out the door'...

I thought things were pretty rosey at 1160/1050.

They are :)....

Why would anyone lump a Station Manager up with some of the current on air talent?

What does one have to do with the other?

He brought the 'talent' in....

Strange you mention "talent". I was driving home today about 6:50PM and Dennis was trying to give away a $20 gift certificate to Willie's. No one called to claim it. SAD.

jry Is it correct that you don't have access to your own monthly PPM ratings anymore? 1160 and 1050 (among others) don't show up on the monthly Arbitron report anymore.

And is "Red Eye Radio" part of your programming yet? It say's on 1160's facebook that it's coming soon, but it has said that for months.

Yes. Arbitron only shows buyers. This includes the topline or what they called "beauty contest numbers" Only buyers get to use them.
We used to buy just WCVX and the Kauffmanns bought the WDJO numbers when the oldies were on 1160. Heck, i saw a few 1.2s back then for WDJO.
We are in talks with Arbitron about buying the PPM for 1160 only. Then we can see facts and not rely on rumors. I'll tell you one thing. If you look at the topline numbers for May you'll see that KRC dropped overall by a .6. You have to wonder where those listeners went.

My bet is most of those those listeners went to TV, and the rest forgot to turn the radio back on when they got busy on the internet. Plus, the computer puts a loud noise over those AM signals anyway, "so why bother with all the noise?" Literally and otherwise.

Funny. We had a power outage, at home, from early Thursday night through Saturday afternoon. AM comes in really good when the neighborhood loses power.

Hey, I'm not saying "TV is better" - I'm a radio person, too. But the lack of substance on Am radio - especially in Cincinnati - has driven all but the John Birchers away from the dial. And I don't see these potential listeners coming back, no matter how loud the talk show "hosts" shout or how outrageous their antics get.

If your AM station had a generator backup for its studio and transmitter, and provided useful emergency coverage during a power outage, instead of satellite-fed stuff, you might have a point. But if my power's out, phone doesn't work, and I can't get out of my street due to fallen trees, who cares about listening to Clark Howard?

True on most accounts. Most stations in this market are staffed enough to report on emergency situations.
Given the accumulative ratings that the AM talkers in Cincinnati enjoys, there must be a lot of John Birch Society members in this market.

Not that I'm a member but according to Wikipedia "The John Birch Society is an American political advocacy group that supports anti-communism, limited government, a constitutional republic[1][2] and personal freedom.[3]

Sounds pretty good to me.

That's why I listen to talk radio.

You should know that Wikipedia is not a reliable source of info according to most people. Neither is talk radio for that matter. It's is just entertainment not journalism.
