Rebecca Black's "Friday" Live On - In CHR

Has anybody else noticed that as much as Rebecca Black's "Friday" was hated, her sound and style has been embraced by a majority of the artists big in Top 40 today. "Call Me Maybe", which has pretty much sealed itself as the song of the year, in fact sounds a lot like "Friday" and probably would have never come out if it wasn't for "Friday". Other artists like Katy Perry most notably are quite influenced by Rebecca Black. Katy Perry even had her in one of her videos. It's quite clear, at least to me, that "Friday" while not a big hit in and of itself, changed the course of Top 40 music. Would anybody else agree?

I disagree. Rebecca Black was not the first artist to use AutoTune or make a disposable pop song about having fun. You're putting the cart before the horse- Rebecca Black was just one in a long line of artists from Madonna to Milli Vanilli to today's artists that have combined sub-par, studio enhanced singing with crappy lyrics and created a "fun" song.
