Reboots

Thirtysomething rumored for a reboot.

EXCLUSIVE: Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick’s beloved 1987 drama series thirtysomething is making a comeback. I have learned that the duo is pitching a new incarnation of the show, which is garnering interest from multiple networks, including ABC, which aired the original series.

Written by thirtysomething creators Herskovitz and Zwick and to be directed by Zwick, I hear the followup series revolves around the children of the characters in the original show, which are now 30-something themselves. I hear the intention is for original cast members to reprise their roles but no one is set yet and there have been no formal talks.
The project hails from MGM TV, the studio behind the original series, which ran on ABC for four seasons.

Thirtysomething was a seminal series that captured the angst of the baby boomer generation and its struggles with real-life issues such as career, relationships, marriage, having kids and parenting. It centered around Michael Steadman (Ken Olin), his stay-at-home wife Hope Murdoch (Mel Harris) and their baby Janie. Melanie Mayron, Timothy Busfield, Patricia Wettig, Peter Horton and Polly Draper also starred in the series, which won 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, out of 41 nominations, and two Golden Globe Awards over the course of its four-season run.

‘Beverly Hills Cop’ is up for a sequel at Netflix

Netflix has nabbed the rights to make a sequel to “Beverly Hills Cop,” a move that deepens the relationship between the streaming giant and Eddie Murphy.

Murphy’s new comedy “Dolemite is My Name” is currently showing on the platform, earning the actor some of the best reviews of his career. The film will see him reprise his role as Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who finds himself transplanted to the tony streets of Beverly Hills. The first two films in the series were huge hits, though 1994’s “Beverly Hills Cop III” was a commercial and critical disappointment. Paramount released all three previous films, but is licensing the rights to Netflix.

Clifford to get a reboot

NEW YORK (AP) — Who’s your favorite big red dog? If you have one, chances are his name is Clifford.

Scholastic Entertainment is rebooting the TV series about the giant dog with an equally large heart this week on Amazon Prime Video and PBS, the latter his home since the early aughts.

The new show offers more diversity among the human characters and puts Clifford’s beloved 7-year-old owner, Emily Elizabeth, front and center in his Birdwell Island adventures.

Each episode will include an original song in a range of genres sung by the new main voice artists, 13-year-old Hannah Levinson for Emily Elizabeth and 27-year-old Adam Sanders reprising Clifford, who was once voiced by John Ritter.

Clifford and his positive life lessons have never gone away in video and book form around the globe, since Scholastic Inc. published Norman Bridwell’s first story in 1963, helping to launch the company as a premier publisher of children’s and young adult fare.

The TV series “Clifford the Big Red Dog” has been on a break at PBS for new episodes since his puppy prequel ended in 2006. The original show premiered in 2000 and ended in 2003, though Clifford has been rerun through the years on TV, along with videos on streaming platforms

Saved By the Bell is in talks for a reboot.

The hotly-anticipated “Saved by the Bell” reboot is moving forward with Josie Totah as its star.

Totah will play Lexi, described in press notes as “a beautiful, sharp-tongued cheerleader and the most popular girl at Bayside High” who is both “admired and feared” by her classmates. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news early Monday.

Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, who starred in the original incarnation of “Saved by the Bell” from 1989 to 1993, will reprise their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano respectively in the revival. The new series will explore what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar in the original) closes many of the state’s low-income high schools and reassigns affected students to higher-performing schools, including Bayside High.

“FFS” does it harm anyone? People tune in, the show succeeds. They don’t, it fails. It doesn’t interest you? Don’t watch. Easy peasy.

We don’t “need” most anything.

The primetime continuation flopped. They daytime sequel ran several more seasons. Neither was a reboot.

But again, so what? If you’re not the target audience, it doesn’t matter in the least. Don’t watch if you dislike the premise. Others may. It does no harm if someone wants to take another shot at it. The intended viewers will determine its fate.

Supermarket Sweep to get a reboot.

After months of negotiations, ABC has closed a deal to bring back the classic TV game show Supermarket Sweep with a new incarnation hosted and executive produced by Saturday Night Live alumna Leslie Jones.

Produced by Fremantle, the new Supermarket Sweep with Jones was taken out in August, attracting bids from multiple networks, both traditional broadcasters and streamers. ABC, home of the original Supermarket Sweep and an extensive slate of classic game show revivals, soon emerged as a frontrunner, kicking off lengthy dealmaking. Production on the 10-episode order is set to begin this spring.

Jones, a big Supermarket Sweep fan growing up, has been a driver behind the revival of the classic show, created by Al Howard.

Hi all............Not a fan of reboots but some are good and some are cheesy.

Would not mind seeing some of the original cast if they are still with us on the newer show..

Like to see a All in the Family reboot will star the original " Sally S " Gloria and "Rob R" Mike as elders and a complete opposite opinions as parents Archie and Edith were and their grand kids will be like their grand parents with their negative opinions..

As other failed .Night Rider 4000.David Hasselhoff can play the role similar like his boss Devon Miles.A younger actor can drive KITT as this newer KITT which can fly at mach speed in the air...

More Later.........................

I want Richard Dean Anderson to guest star on "MacGyver".

And how many "Magnum" fans really want Frank Reagan to take a vacation in Hawaii in a "Blue Bloods" crossover?
