Receiva Dumped Clear Channel on Internet Radios

I found out on the Grace Internet Radios (serviced by Recieva) that they've removed the individual channel links that I once had to my local Clear Channel stations.
Here's what Receiva sent to me about Grace internet radios:

"We and other station aggregators have had to remove the Clear Channel stations from our main list at their request due to the fixed-term license running out.
The stations may be re-added to the database in the future, and as a result put on the radios, but only when Clear Channel give their permission for us to do so."

So Clear Channel must not want you to link to only one station on your internet radio, but force you to use their iHateRadio software instead? You would think that they would WANT you to listen to their stations online? I am missing something here?
 
I wonder if Clear Channel cut a special deal with Sound Exchange? If so, it is entirely likely that part of the deal involves all streaming to be through one portal, so that audience metrics can be accurately measured for purposes of billing for royalties. Perhaps that's what I-Heart Radio is all about.
 
It's all about branding and NTR (Non Traditional Revenue) .. They can't control brand look/feel or sell flash web ads on Receiva but can via their own iHeart platform... The restriction to iHeart it to ensure constant user experience between each station that is part of the iHeart family.

If Receiva wanted to "adapt" their platform and product so it works with the iHeart experience and ensured each listener got that I am sure Clear Channel would be happy to have the extra linkage.

Funny, CBS doesn't seem to have this issue. Their stations work with Receiva just fine, and they have their own branded/ad-encrusted player.

Comparing Apples to Oranges.. Clear Channel has other objectives than CBS.
 
I have a Grace Internet radio and I still can get most INHEARTRADIO streams on it.... (Although they have cut down the # of streams they have in that list)

As others have pointed out, CBS thinks differently than Clear Channel on streaming. It tried platform exclusivity and decided it wasn't the best way to make their stations available to those who wanted to listen. In addition to Radio.com, you can hear most (some are still platform exclusive) of the CBS stations on TuneIn and Aha Radio, a car-focused platform that also integrates Slacker and several other broadcasters.
